               FOOD PACKAGING EVENT UPDATES

WE NEED YOU THIS WEEKEND! PLEASE JOIN US!
Over 200 volunteer spots are still available for FFCC's 35th Food Packaging Event this weekend on April 29th! Click here to reserve your time! We really need your help in packaging the planned 150,000 meals! The event's primary supporter is Grace Point Church. The location for the event is Grace Point Church, 13340 Hayford Way, San Diego, 92130.

Grace Point is also the site for FFCC's food pantry, which supplies local families with basic food necessities. Our shelves are currently low on peanut butter, rice, cereal, and boxed macaroni and cheese. Along with your event cash donation, please consider bringing some of these items to help local families in need.

Read more below about what this event means to those served by this team and how your hands-on help can make a difference this weekend!

DON'T FORGET! When volunteering at an FFCC Food Packaging Event, bringing a cash donation goes a long way! At 25 cents/meal, $20 provides 80 meals to hungry people here in North County and around the world!
Click here to calculate how many meals your planned donation can provide!

FFCC RETURNS FROM ITS 10TH TRIP TO HAITI

Seventeen FFCC team members, eleven from San Diego and six from Haiti spent an amazing week working together in the cities of Port Au Prince, Carrefour and Gressier. The San Diego team returned from their week in Haiti blessed by all that they were able to accomplish and inspired to do more because of the great need that is still left unmet.

Jen Riedel is a high school sophomore at Rancho Bernardo High School.  She shares what the week meant to her in this letter:

"This was honestly the greatest trip I've been on. It had the elements of fun and work (which is hard to say in the same sentence "fun work"?) but it created such an amazing experience. Many people hear about what is happening in the different places all over the world, but to actually go and experience it all first hand is truly the best and the worst of feelings. It's the best because of course going to Haiti or any other country you know little about sounds like so much fun and then to be able to go and participate in such an awesome project and learn about a whole different culture and language is a great experience. But the bad side of it is seeing all the poverty and hardships people have to go through and you realize that, though you can help many, there will always be many more who never receive the help they need to survive. Through this wonderful experience, I have not only learned so much more about myself, but also about so many other people that I have traveled with and met on my journey in Haiti. I will never forget all that I have learned on this trip and will no doubt be coming back to Haiti in the near future. Thank you so much FFCC for making this the best trip I could ever go on and for all you are doing to help Haiti. It is such an inspiration!"

FFCC will travel again to Haiti August 10 - 18, 2012.  There is still room to join the team if you are interested. There is a meeting on Tuesday, April 24th@ 6:30 pm. THAT IS TONIGHT! Contact Tina Socha if you are interested (tina.socha@san.rr.com).

GRACEPOINTMORE ON THIS WEEKEND'S EVENT-PLEASE JOIN US!
FFCC and our San Diego community are partnering with Grace Point Church to assemble 150,000 meals for the country of Honduras. Grace Point has been serving in a bordo, called Rio Blanco, in the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras for three years. They have worked tirelessly to raise the money for this food packaging event. Grace Point supports an orphanage, works with a hospital to provide necessary help and has also provided water filters for this community. The people of Rio Blanco battle against the struggles of poverty and welcome this gift of food. Grace Point will be sending a team in August to continue their work there and FFCC is also looking to send a team sometime this fall.

This weekend's Food Packaging Event will begin at 9:00 am on Sunday April 29th and will continue to until 1:00 pm that afternoon. There are still spots available for you and your family to sign-up. We are also looking for volunteers to help take-down the event from 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm.  Click here to register now! If the time slot you are interested in says "Full", scroll down the page a bit to find more openings. There are more open spots towards the bottom of the page.

The address for the event is Grace Point Church, 13340 Hayford Way, San Diego 92130.  We hope you can join us!

AN ESCONDIDO SUMMER TRADITION BENEFITS FFCC'S TANZANIA COMPUTER PROJECT
Cruising Grand Ave in Escondido is a long standing tradition in San Diego County. This summer, one of our FFCC community members, Dave Geary, is partnering with the Escondido Kiwanis Club and hosting a BBQ every Friday night during the Cruisin Grand Event. The money raised from the BBQ will go to FFCC to purchase computers & supporting equipment for an internet café that will provide the necessary resources to make our Childrens' Center in Singida Town, Tanzania self-sustainable.

The goal is to raise $15,000. The event opened this past Friday and Dave raised over $400 towards the goal! There are two ways you can support this great effort. Dave is looking for a few FFCC volunteers to come and help at the BBQ each Friday night during the summer. If you & your family would like to volunteer to help, contact Dave Geary at (760) 802-3945. Another way you can help is to spread the word about this fund raising effort to your friends & family. Invite them to come to East Grand Avenue in Escondido, 92027 between 5 pm & 9 pm on any Friday night through September and to visit Dave Geary's BBQ for a delicious burger. Their support will benefit a great cause!
