 A New Year!

We hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and joyous New Year, full of celebration and blessings!  Things have already gotten off to a running start here at FFCC. Stay connected and jump on board for another fun-filled year of making miracles a reality! We look forward to serving with you and thank you for all your support!

Our First Food Packaging Event of 2012

On January 5th, FFCC partnered with the Goodrich Corporation & Anna Schultz and her team from forBenefit Enterprise to complete our 29th Food Packaging Event!  They hosted the event at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort for Goodrich's 600 employees who were in San Diego for their corporate meeting.

We packaged 10,000 meals and assembled approximately 500 water filters. One third of the meals will be donated to the San Diego Food Bank and the rest will be sent to Haiti. Some of the meals will travel with our medical team leaving this month. It was a great event to start off 2012!  Thank you to our team of FFCC volunteers who came and supported the event.

FFCC would love to work with your business or organization this year to package food for our local community and those needy communities around the world. Click here to see a list of dates when we will be hosting events. Some will be private events and others will be open to the general public. For the public events, registration dates will be posted on our website and also listed in our e-newsletter. If you are interested in sponsoring an event, please contact Phil Harris (philffcc@san.rr.com) or Tina Socha (tina.socha@san.rr.com), they would be happy to answer any questions.

Travel with FFCC in 2012

FFCC would like to extend an invitation to all of you to join us as we travel abroad in 2012. We have several incredible trips planned - each packed with amazing experiences & opportunities. Our first trip of the year will be medical mission to Haiti. A team of 25 doctors, nurses & volunteers will spend 10 days providing care for hundreds of patients. In February, nine FFCC community members will travel to Tanzania Africa. We will deliver the custom built tractor & trailer to the Leper Colony; continue to advance the water filter project in Nkungi & help construct teacher housing at the Secondary School.

We are now accepting applications for anyone interested in traveling to Haiti in April & Tanzania in June!
Both these trips are open to high school students, as well as adults. In Haiti, we will distribute water filters, continue to help construct an orphanage & bring advancement to a food sustainability program we are developing. This summer in Tanzania, we will partner with a team of college students from Azusa Pacific University, as well as students from Singida University in Tanzania to build a cantina to provide meals for the patients & staff of the local hospital in Singida. We will also celebrate with the village of Nkungi the completion of the water filter project & begin the new work in Kiomboi, a town just north of Nkungi.

THIS WEEK! There will be a meeting for the June Tanzania trip on Monday January 9th @ 6:30 pm and on Tuesday January 10th @ 6:30 pm a meeting for those wanting to go to Haiti in April. Travel applications are available on our website (www.ffccsd.org). Contact Tina Socha (tina.socha@san.rr.com) with any questions or if you are interested in attending either of the meetings.

A Big Christmas Thank You!
Following on the heels of our Thanksgiving Outreach efforts that served over 400 families, FFCC was able to help over 135 families with food and/or grocery gift cards during the Christmas holiday. With your help, we were also able to assist an additional 44 families with gifts from their wish lists.

FFCC volunteers are making a huge impact in 100s of families throughout North County. We continue to receive more requests to help local families in need, especially during this tough economy. If you would like to volunteer and work with our Community Family Outreach team, you can contact Becky at bpalenske@san.rr.com.

We are excited for the opportunities that 2012 will offer us here at FFCC. We'd like to extend a special thanks to Becky Palenske and her entire team of dedicated workers for leading up these efforts in our own backyards!

       Let's Keep The Music Playing

As most of you would attest, the music at our food packaging events helps provide an upbeat & fun atmosphere to work in. Jim Brown has been responsible for providing that great sound for FFCC for the last three years and is committed to continuing to do so. However, FFCC has more than a half a dozen events on the books for the first part of next year and we don't want our favorite DJ to burn out. So, if you have

the goods to keep the music alive- equipment, music, DJ skills - and would like to donate your talents to FFCC, please contact Phil Harris at philffcc@san.rr.com.
