Each year, FFCC partners with our community to pull together Thanksgiving food baskets for local families in need. This is a tremendous opportunity to bless others as we reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. Click here for a list of food items that you can provide. Gift cards to Albertsons, Vons or Stater Brothers are also much appreciated!

My friends and I had the pleasure of volunteering at the Salvation Army/Homeless Outreach on Labor Day. We were all very touched by the community involvement with our homeless and realized how important it is to give back.  

Before venturing downtown, we put together some special goody bags for the women we would meet.  These contained items that they do not usually receive, including hair ties, sunscreen, lip gloss, a little make up, lotions, nail care items, etc.  We distributed them to the women that were there that evening and they were so amazed and grateful to see that people do care.

We were also given the opportunity to mingle with all the folks and talk about what was on their hearts.  Some of the stories were sad, but most of the people there were very grateful and happy that they had a place to go to eat and pick up needed personal items.  

My friends have since commented how their visit has stayed with them and expressed how they want to do more!  We have already started talking about more ideas for how we can serve the homeless of San Diego and will definitely be headed Downtown again next month.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that this visit touched our hearts and gave us a different perspective of the homeless and many others in need. Giving back is so important and we are excited to continue helping.  God bless all of us with His Grace.
