Dear FFCC Team Member,

Thanks for your continued support and energy!  This week's featured updates and opportunities to get involved focus on our Homeless Outreach, High School Fight Against Hunger Clubs, and school supplies for kids in need.  Pass it on!

With great appreciation!

A San Diego

Home Run?!

The Padres may have stunk it up against the Dodgers Monday night, but FFCC hit a home run with our downtown Homeless Outreach!  We had so many wonderful compliments on the dinner we served.

A big shout out to the McHeffey family for their contribution of homemade Macaroni & Cheese!  Our guests LOVED it!  We had a small, but mighty group of volunteers that served dinner to approximately 100 guests.  We had donated clothing to hand out and, thanks to Grace Lutheran Church in Escondido, there were emergency kits made available to those who needed them.  It was a wonderful evening and we appreciate all the ways our community loves on our friends!

The first Monday in September is Labor Day so enjoy your day off & then come and spend your evening with us downtown at the Salvation Army.  We'll start at 6 pm and be finished by 8 pm.  Don't come empty handed.  Check our website for directions & items you can bring.

If you would like to get involved in our Homeless Outreach efforts or help on any related projects, please contact Tina Socha at tina.socha@san.rr.com.

Giving Hearts Spotlight:

Calling All High School Students!

FAH Club - RBHS Nov 2010

Now that it is August, many high schoolers are beginning to think about the new wardrobe,  Fall sports, AP assignments, etc. Here is something else to consider, Fight Against Hunger Clubs

Students in our community have a great desire to engage in the battle to eradicate hunger!  They have clearly demonstrated that!
Just this past Friday - at our food packing event in Carlsbad - we had high school students from at least six different high schools represented.  We've had hundreds of students join us downtown for our Homeless Outreach, as well. Eight students have traveled with us to Haiti; three more leave with the team next week & twenty-three students have been with us to Tanzania, many of them repeatedly!  That's a lot of heart!

Last year FFCC began FAH Clubs in high schools around North County Inland.  Those schools are continuing this year and we're looking to have more students/schools join us.  If you are a high school student who is interested in working with FFCC & rallying the kids at your school to get involved in the Fight Against Hunger, contact Tina Socha at tina.socha@san.rr.com.

Below is the list of schools where clubs currently exist or are in the process of getting started.  If you don't see your school listed, lets get one going!  If you are an adult who enjoys working with high school students and would like to help support these clubs, you can contact Tina, as well.

school suppliesSchool Supplies for Students in Need!

August means it is time to start "Back to School" shopping. There will be families in our community that will struggle to fill that list of needed school supplies. So, if you are out taking advantage of some of the deals, grab an extra box of colored pencils or a package of paper, or whatever the items on your students list might be and drop them by Dream Dinners (12218 Poway Road, Suite #100, Poway, 92064).

FFCC will be sure your donations get to those who need them.  Thanks in advance for your generosity!
