FFCC will be headed downtown this Monday night (August 1st) to serve our homeless guests a wonderful meal- turkey wraps and homemade mac & cheese!  But that's not all, we will have the opportunity to provide necessary clothing, blankets, hygiene kits & most important- a kind word, a conversation & even a hug!

Click here for directions/parking instructions . We'll meet at 6 pm at the Salvation Army, 825 7th Ave, San Diego, 92101 and be finished by 8 pm. 

Suggested donation items to bring with you:

• Hygiene kits: Ziploc bags with items such as socks, water bottle, tooth brush, tooth paste, granola bar, disposable razor, etc.
• Clothing: sweatshirts, jackets, underwear, sun hats (Note: larger size men's clothing are always appreciated, e.g., size 40+)
• Blankets
• Case of water bottles
• Sunscreen, umbrellas
• An item that you have enjoyed that you can share with a homeless friend (e.g., a book you've recently read, your favorite card game)

All ages are welcome. We hope you can join us! 

It was January 3rd, when volunteer, Sean Kaiser, checked his e-mail and found one from FFCC, containing an urgent request from a mom in our community. Sean recalls,

"She was asking for lung donors for her young adult daughter. The request included four criteria: be under 55 years old, have A+ or O blood type, be at least 5'9", and be a non-smoker. I realized I met all four criteria: I'm 28 years old, have A+ blood (I knew this because I had several ear tube surgeries as a young child), am 6'2", and have never smoked. I could possibly help. I'm not really sure when I made my decision, and I still wasn't a hundred percent set on doing it, but I decided to call the number in the e-mail and at least do whatever tests there might be to see if I matched.  I received a return call not long after..."
