Dear FFCC Team Member,
 cc mural

The construction of the playground and market shops is progressing, the project is over 90% complete.  FFCC's 10th Team is currently in Tanzania putting on the final touches.  This team of college students will be assembling the playground equipment

(slide, swings, teeter totter, and jungle gym)  donated by Outreach Africa.

FFCC also hired a young man named Amani from the village of Nkungi to paint pictures on the walls of the playground area.  FFCC has been supporting Amani and his family for the past five years.  Amani has never been to art school but the pictures were out of this world!  This young 22 year-old man did an amazing job -- you feel like you are standing right in the middle of the Serengeti National Park with the wild animals all around. The children from the center would come out and sit and watch him do his painting. Just imagine over 400 young children sitting quietly on the ground watching a 22 year-old paint a picture on the wall for them. Every time the children look at the painting they have smiles from ear to ear. Most of these children will probably never have a chance to see these animals in real life. I also hope that the children seeing this young man painting will inspire them to live their dreams.

The Prime Minister of Tanzania, , and other government and community leaders will be on-hand for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of this incredible addition to the Children's Feeding Center in Singida.  Thank you FFCC family for your hard work and financial contributions!

quilt winnerA Quilt for Japan!

Our resident quilting expert, Sue Gary, who was instrumental in the making of 120 quilts for the girls living in the school dorm in Nkungi, Tanzania, offered her quilt-making talent again! This time, Sue made a beautiful quilt which she donated to the women's ministry of Grace Lutheran Church in Escondido for their Spring Retreat. Raffle tickets were sold and the money raised--$365!--was donated to FFCC toward the recent Food Packaging Event held at the Salvation Army in San Diego to benefit the people in Japan devastated by the earthquake and tsunami.

The winner and beneficiary of Sue's beautiful quilt is Angie Vegas (pictured above), a memberof Grace and retreat participant. Thank you, Sue and Grace Lutheran Church, for remembering the people of Japan in this way. You are a blessing!
