Keep Your Pets Safe This Holiday Season
|
There are several popular holiday plants to be careful of during the Holiday season. Some of the potentially dangerous plants include:
poinsettia, mistletoe, and holly. If your pet comes into contact with
these plants it is better to play it safe and call your veterinarian, or better yet don't bring them into your home if you have curious pets. These plants can cause vomiting and diarrhea if ingested.
Many families include a Christmas tree as part of their holiday tradition. Some dogs and cats like to drink the tree water; the water
itself is not poisonous, but if a fertilizer was added to the water it can be poisonous. The fertilizer can cause the pet to experience
diarrhea and vomiting. It is better to try to prevent the pets from
drinking tree water by keeping it covered or by not adding a fertilizer to the water.

How and When to Integrate Play with Learning Obedience Skills
|
|
We often see dogs that although being cooed over, petted or fed
treats, still seem miserable while being "trained." Positive motivation
can be a tricky thing.
Dog training (dog learning) should not take on the flavor of a
boring chore for the dog or handler. Some trainers will tell you to
train early in the morning before you feed them, while others will tell
you to train your dog only for 10-15 minutes maximum. The reasoning
behind those approaches has to do primarily with ones ability to attain
and hold the dogs attention more than anything else. Click here for entire article and instructional video

Homemade Dog Biscuits
|
2 teaspoons dry yeast ½ cup lukewarm water 2 tablespoons dry parsley 2 tablespoons minced garlic 1 ½ cups chicken broth 3 tablespoons honey 1 egg 5-6 cups whole wheat flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in parsley, garlic, broth, honey, and egg. Gradually blend in flour adding only enough to form a stiff dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead until smooth (3-5 minutes). Shape into a ball and roll to ¼ inch thick. Using bone-shaped cookie cutter, cut out biscuits. Bake for 30 minutes, then turn over and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Let cool overnight. (You could turn off oven after they are finished baking and put biscuits back in oven overnight to make them crispier and crunchier).

STEADFAST CANINE is more than a vitamin/mineral product, a joint
health product, or a bone health product; it is a complete Structural
Support System designed to support and maintain normal health,
performance, and longevity of ALL components of your dog's framework -
including joints, bones, and other connective tissues. Each of these
components may be impacted over time due to athletic performance,
environmental conditions and aging. While many canine health products
may be useful in addressing one component of your dog's framework, STEADFAST CANINE takes a unique and multi-faceted approach in supporting your dog's entire structural system. Click here for more information

Trainer's Quick Tip:
|
The importance of setting a clearly defined goal when
teaching your dog is invaluable. If your goal is vague then no measure
of time spent will define success, so be specific and pick a challenge
that is age and skill appropriate. Remember we are responsible for the
level of success our dogs achieve. Make sure to set your dog up for
success at every learning phase. Please call us with your questions so we can help 283
DOGS.
