At the Senate Transportation Committee confirmation hearing for MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota held earlier this month, Senator Bill Perkins brought up the issue of rat infestation in the New York City subways.
During his brief statement, Senator Perkins acknowledged WE ACT's work by referring to a recent event we co-sponsored with TWU Local 100 at the 181st Street Station on the #1 train, which shone a spotlight on the rat problems at our uptown subway stations.
After listening to Senator Perkins, Chairman Lhota promised to address the problem of rat infestation in the New York City subway system during his tenure. We at WE ACT are committed to working with Chairman Lhota, the MTA and Senator Perkins to make the Chairman's promise a reality.
