"Excuse me, miss," he says. "I'm with the organization WE ACT for Environmental Justice and I was wondering if you have a minute to answer some questions about your beauty regimen?" He hands her a two-page questionnaire.

 

The environmental activist group is surveying women of color uptown about their use of hair products and cosmetics that could endanger their health. More...

On behalf of our Board and our staff, it is my pleasure to inform you that WE ACT for Environmental Justice will be honored by Advocates for Justice at the organization's first annual Fall Awards Reception on Friday, November 4, from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm, at the Albert Shanker Ballroom in the United Federation of Teachers headquarters, 52 Broadway, New York, New York. WE ACT will be receiving the "Environmental Justice for All" award.  

 

Advocates for Justice is a new 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, public interest law firm handling matters on behalf of "disempowered" individuals and organizations, in particular. Their dual mission is to provide appropriate legal representation while assisting with mobilization and empowerment efforts. Their current client roster includes September 11th survivors interested in medical care or compensation through the Zadroga Act, the New York City Parents Union, parents of children attending public schools with co-located charter schools, and workers seeking to organize and protect their rights.

Tickets to this event cost $100 each. If you anticipate being part of a large group, there is a group discount of 20% for 40 tickets or more.
