Dear Friends,

The next meeting of the Saginaw County Republican Party will be Wednesday, 7:00pm, September 12, at our Headquarters, 3071 Bay Rd, Suite 300, Saginaw.  We will have a guest speaker from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, who will be speaking about Proposal 1: Referendum on the Emergency Manager Law, which will be on the November ballot.  This is a great opportunity to get some in-depth information on this important issue.

Michigan Ballot Initiatives Approved By Court
Speaking Michigan Supreme Courtof the November ballot questions, Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Bob Young has a recent editorial on why the Court ruled to allow several of these questions on the ballot.  He notes that the Court's rulings were consistent with the "Rule of Law court" that is so important to good government because the people have a constitutional right to decide these kinds of policy questions.  In addition to his editorial, you can read the full opinion of the Court.

Solyndra Bankruptcy Anniversary
Romney-Ryan logo

Last week marked a sordid anniversary -- one year since Solyndra went bankrupt and left American taxpayers to pick up the bill.  Solyndra is the ultimate symbol of President Obama's failed attempts to pick winners and losers in the free market.  By putting friends and donors ahead of taxpayers, this administration revealed just how reckless and out of touch it is.  And yet, the president remains unapologetic -- even hobnobbing at high-dollar campaign fundraisers with two of the scandal's major players.  Don't let Barack Obama and his liberal allies have four more years to put their failed crony capitalism on your tab.  Visit the Romney for President website to see how you can help defeat President Obama.

News Obama Hopes Voters Miss

Watch For Falling Income This week's unemployment statistics highlighted the dismal side of our "recovery" under President Obama: people continue to leave the workforce because they cannot find jobs.  Even though the official unemployment rate dropped to 8.1%, it did so only because about 4 people quit looking for work for every 1 that actually found work.  Another interesting way to measure the poor recovery was noted at NetRightDaily.  An analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data by an independent research firm that found that median household income actually fell 4.8% on an inflation-adjusted basis since the recession officially "ended" in June 2009.  Compare that to a drop of only about 2.6% DURING the during the 18-month recession, and you can easily conclude that the President's policies have actually made a bad situation worse.

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.
