Health Care Exchanges
|
Now that the Supreme Court has let the "Obamacare" healthcare law stand, what the states do next has become even more important. Health Care Exchanges are the tool of the federal government to mandate much of the new costs to the states. They are intended to be a marketplace to purchase health care services that your employer does not offer, but do nothing to promote competition, are full of onerous rules, and will inhibit innovation in health care. Here in Michigan, the Senate has already passed legislation in support of the idea and the governor has made it clear he will back it if it comes across his desk. This would put Michigan taxpayers on the hook for much of the funding for exchange services. If you are concerned with who is in control of your health care decisions, the government or you and your doctor, then it is critically important that these exchanges are NOT implemented. You can find more information on these exchanges in this video. Before this goes much further, this is a good time to contact your legislators regarding the Michigan exchange. |
