Delegates To Michigan Republican Convention
Saginaw County Republicans

If you find you are unable to attend the Convention, we would appreciate receiving that information at saginawgop@yahoo.com as soon as you know, so we can ensure a full voting Delegation from Saginaw County.  There is still a need for Convention workers to assist the State Committee in the many hands-on tasks required to make the convention operate smoothly.  Volunteering to work at the convention will help offset your costs.  If you can help, please visit the volunteer sign-up page.  If you see a friend on this list, you might consider sharing the cost of travel and hotel accommodations with them.

Legislative Rally For Two Michigan House Bills

scales of justice

Two bills have been introduced in the Michigan House which aim to keep American laws for American courts.  These are House Bill 4769 and Senate Bill 701.  A rally to meet with your state lawmakers about these bills is scheduled for Thursday, May 10th from 8:30am-12:00pm, in the Mackinac Room, Anderson House Office Building, 124 North Capitol Avenue, 5th Floor, Lansing.

Speakers at the rally will include:

  • Representative Dave Agema - (R), 74th District - Legislation Sponsor
  • Richard Thompson, President & Chief Counsel - Thomas More Law Center
  • William Wagner, Professor of Constitutional Law - Cooley Law School
  • Christopher Holton, Vice-President - Center for Security Policy
  • Manda Zand Ervin, Founder & President - Alliance of Iranian Women

If you believe we must act now to re-affirm, as public policy, the primacy of the US Constitution over any application of foreign law, this is an opportunity to talk to your lawmakers on the subject.  All attendees are asked to make appointments with their state lawmakers beginning at 11:00am to urge passage of this legislation. To schedule your legislative appointment call: 517-373-0135.  Anyone who plans to attend the event and would like to be put on the guest list should respond to alacrally@aol.com.  Space is limited and this event is only open to those who have a confirmed RSVP. Light refreshments will be served.

Commissioner Dennis Krafft To Run Again
Commissioner Dennis Krafft
Saginaw County Commissioner Dennis Krafft has decided to run for a fourth term.  However, because of countywide redistricting, he will be running for a seat in the newly-designed District 8 instead of his former District 4.  The new district covers all of the City of Frankenmuth, Frankenmuth Township, Blumfield Township, the half of Bridgeport Township north of the Cass River, the north half of Birch Run Township, and most of the rural part of Buena Vista Township east of I-75.

Regarding the Saginaw County Commission, Dennis notes, "I'm in my third term, or 6th year, with visions of adding more, and loving it."  Dennis currently serves on the County Services Committee, Rules Committee, and Airport Board.  Outside of the County Commission, he serves on the Frankenmuth Convention & Visitors Bureau.

John Stossel's Illegal Everything

In case you wonder what the problem of too many rules and regulations means on an everyday level, John Stossel has some thoughts.

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.
