Precinct Delegate Training

Saginaw County Republicans

Sandra Kahn, Precinct Delegate Committee Chair, has announced that the Saginaw County Republican Party will hold a Precinct Delegate Training session on Monday, April 30th.

If you are a Precinct Delegate this current term (August 2010-August 2012) or if you are newly filed for the new term (August 2012-August 2014), you will want to attend this training session to learn how to make the most of your Elected Office and how to best help your County Republican Party succeed in the 2012 November election. We have many Precinct Delegate openings; so bring others who are interested in joining us in this important election year position.

The final filing date to get your name on the August Primary Election ballot for Precinct Delegate is 4:00pm, Tuesday, May 15th. For your convenience, Precinct Delegate Ballot Application forms and a Notary Public will be available at this meeting. It will have to be signed by yourself and a Notary Public and filed with the County Clerk's Office or with your local township, city or village clerk. You must know the precinct you live in to complete this form (i.e. City of Saginaw, Precinct #15). In case you are unable to attend this meeting, Precinct Delegate forms are also available at the Saginaw County Republican headquarters, 3071 Bay Road, Suite 300, Saginaw.

The training session will be held at the Saginaw Republican headquarters, 3071 Bay Road, Suite 300, Saginaw, beginning at 6:00pm with a Pizza & Politics chat, followed at 7:00pm by the program.  Topics will include Purpose of Precinct Delegates - "What, Who, Why", Misconceptions of Precinct Delegates,  and Strategy.  See you on the 30th!

Travis Mills
Staff Sargeant Travis Mills, who was injured on April 10th when he stepped on an IED while serving with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan, has undergone surgery in Germany.  Mills is believed to be just the fourth quadruple amputee in U.S. military history to survive his injuries.

Those wishing to follow Travis and his family during his long journey to recovery can do so at his website.   Judy Adams and the Richville American Legion Post and the Yellow Ribbon Guard are planning a benefit spaghetti dinner to support him.  The event is on Sunday, May 27th, from 2:00-7:00pm at the Richville American Legion Hall, 9890 Sanilac Road, Reese.  Volunteers are still needed to help make the food, serve, and clean-up afterwards.  Judy also needs people to go to businesses and ask for donations for an auction which be held at the dinner.  Anyone wishing to donate items for the dinner, auction, bake sale or willing to help can contact Judy at 989-823-2078 or at info@travismills.orgCash donations can be mailed per instructions at the website.

Do-Nothing Senate Still Doing...Nothing

gas pumpWith gas prices at $4 or higher throughout much of the country, House Speaker John Boehner noted in his weekly address last week that nearly 30 House-passed jobs and energy bills are awaiting a vote in the Democratic-controlled Senate.  President Obama likes to say he's for the Republicans' "all of the above" energy strategy, but his actions have only rarely backed up his words.  Instead the Obama administration is pushing new energy regulations that would increase electricity rates and cost thousands of jobs.  And energy bills to create jobs and address high gas prices aren't the only ones being blocked.  In the Democratic-controlled Senate, it's been 1,069 days since Senate Democrats offered a budget!  If you want to address a perceived "do-nothing Congress", remember to contact Senator Carl Levin and Senator Debbie Stabenow and urge them to action on this stalled legislation.

Republican National Fundraising Report

Ron Weiser reports that it has been a very busy year so far for the Republican National Committee Finance team, but he is proud to report that their hard work is paying off.  In March, they raised more than $13.7 million and now have more cash on hand than the DNC, despite the fundraising prowess of the President.  Unfortunately, in 2010 the RNC did not have adequate funds for a superior ground game and as many as 5 Governorships, 20 House seats and 2 Senate seats were left on the table.  Ron pledges to continue working hard to ensure that this doesn't happen again and that the race will not be lost because of lack of resources to fund the ground game for our grassroots activists.

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.

Sincerely,
