More Stupid Government Spending
penny
Everyone has a Top Ten list near the start of a new year, so here's one that tries to list the 10 stupidest Federal spending boondoggles of 2011.  It must have been difficult to limit the list to just 10!  The list is from Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, published in The Daily Caller.

10 - $764,825 to study how college students use cell phones and social media.
9  - $136,555 to a study to retrace Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in England.
8  - $55,660 on butter packaging for a single dairy.
7  - $606,000 for a study about online dating.
6  - $484,000 to fund a developer building a pizza restaurant in Texas.
5  - $48,700 to help fund the Second Annual Hawaii Chocolate Festival.
4  - $147,138 to build a magic museum in Marshall, Michigan.
3  - $96,000 on iPads for kindergarteners in Maine.
2  - $175,587 to study the link between cocaine and the mating habits of quail.
1  - $130,987 for dragon robots to help develop preschoolers' vocabulary.  And it's just part of $1,000000 to be spent over 4 years.
