Dear Friends,

"America was founded by people who believe that God was their rock of safety.  I recognize we must be cautious in claiming that God is on our side, but I think it's all right to keep asking if we're on His side."
- President Ronald Reagan.

Very best of wishes for a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

Information On US Senate Candidate Gary Glenn
Gary Glenn
Gary Glenn recently spoke at a Western Thumb Tea Party meeting.  He has also received the endorsement of former presidential candidate and Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Governor Huckabee had the following to say in his endorsement: "I am very happy to endorse and support Gary Glenn for the United States Senate in Michigan. Gary is a person whose clarity of conviction is refreshing. He has boldly led on issues of life, traditional marriage, and the Fair Tax. When I needed help in Michigan in 2008, Gary didn't wait until it was convenient or popular, he stood with me out of sheer courage of his views. Gary Glenn won't take a poll to find out where he needs to stand. He will be a Senator that will take his values with him to Washington. I hope you will join me in getting behind Gary with your prayers, your generous and sacrificial contributions, and your vote."

In the 1980s, Glenn led the campaign that enacted a Right to Work law in Idaho and is a founding member of Michigan Freedom to Work, which is pushing to enact such a law in Michigan.  Glenn was co-author of the state Marriage Protection Amendment approved by voters in 2004.  He was also a featured speaker at the first Tea Party rally in Midland County in April 2009.  Last month, in the only campaign event in which all GOP candidates for U.S. Senate have appeared together, Glenn won a straw poll immediately following a candidate forum. Glenn won 32 percent of that straw poll, defeating former Congressman Pete Hoekstra (23 percent) and charter school founder Clark Durant (18 percent).  Three other candidates won support in single digits.

The Shape of Health Care To Come?

Obamacare cartoon

William Warren's award-winning cartoons published at GetLiberty.org

Federal and state administered health insurance programs have always followed a now-predictable path. First, actual costs far outpace predictions. Second, government cuts reimbursements to health care providers. Third, when providers can't be cut any deeper, then government restricts patients' access to health care services. This is playing out once again in California, where the state has already made deep cuts to health care providers' repayments.  In a precursor to Obamacare, California is now requesting federal approval for a plan to ration care by limiting the number of times Medicaid beneficiaries can see a doctor!

The Democrats' health care law is a massive expansion of a fundamentally flawed system that will end up in the same place, rationing health care services to millions of Americans. Whether individuals have health care coverage through government-approved insurance in the Exchanges or as a result of the one-half trillion dollar Medicaid expansion, the path is predictable, well worn, and has the same destination: faceless bureaucrats deciding how much health care you will get regardless of what you need.

Unfortunately, Michigan recently took the first step towards making Obamacare a reality here, with the Michigan State Senate recently passing SB 693. This bill has the result of enforcing Obamacare through the creation of a state health care exchange. Health care exchanges are the new government bureaucracies designed to enforce the law's regulations, resulting in driving up premiums and distributing billions in taxpayer-funded subsidies.  Our local State Senator, Roger Kahn voted to create the exchange in Michigan.

In Case You Have Any Doubt
President Barack Obama

October 17th, 2011 marked President Obama's 1000th day in office.  As he noted just 13 days into his presidency, "If I don't have this done in three years, then there's gonna be a one-term proposition."

Here's his record so far:
  • Total Public Debt Outstanding has increased by $4.2 trillion
  • $1.2 trillion has been spent servicing interest on the U.S. debt
  • 2.22 million jobs lost, and unemployment has averaged 9.4%
  • Nearly 3 million more Americans in poverty-poverty rate has gone from 13.2% to 15.1%
  • Excluding the U.S. Post Office, Federal Government has added 140,000 jobs
  • 7,076 new final regulatory rules issued
  • 371 Banks have failed
  • More than 2.4 million homes have been repossessed for failure to pay their mortgage

Let's make sure he was right about the one-term presidency, because he sure hasn't been right about anything else.
