Millage Up For Vote In Saginaw County!

Saginaw ISD

Few people know about this, but there is a County-wide ballot question sneaking onto the November 8, 2011 ballot!  It is for a 1.4 mill increase for the Saginaw County Intermediate School District's Special Education Program. Except for the precincts in the City of Saginaw, no other item will be on the November ballot. This is a "stealth" millage, placed so most people in the County will not even realize they should be voting on that day. Please GET OUT AND VOTE and inform anyone you know living in Saginaw County that they should go to the polls to vote on November 8th!

Wal-Mart Finds Obamacare Not A Money Saver
repeal obamacare

Last week Wal-Mart, the US's largest private employer, announced that it would no longer offer health coverage to part-time workers and would sharply increase premiums for its other associates. In a Wall Street Journal article, Wal-Mart says the changes are in response to rising health-care costs, not necessarily the Affordable Care Act. But it's interesting to note that Wal-Mart endorsed President Obama's health-care plan back in 2009, with CEO Mike Duke saying it would help "...to remove the burden that is crushing America's businesses and hampering our competitiveness in the global economy." That doesn't seem to have worked out too well.

Under the company's new policy, new workers who put in fewer than 24 hours a week on average won't qualify for any Wal-Mart health plan, while those under 33 hours won't be able to add a spouse. Other premiums and deductibles will jump in 2012, some by as much as 40%.  You can read more details at the House Ways And Means Committee.

Anti-Recall Help Still Needed

Representative Paul Scott

As many of you are aware, the on-again, off-again recall election against State Representative Paul Scott is back on the ballot and we are headed into the final stretch.  We are still looking for volunteers to help with phone calls and door visits to show support for Representative Scott. Third party special interest groups are playing fast and loose with the truth and making dishonest attacks, after realizing that voters were pleased with Paul Scott's votes to reform teacher tenure and to eliminate the job-killing Michigan Business Tax.

In an e-mail to recall supporters, one union leader stated, "He has given us nothing but crowded classrooms..." The fact is, today, there are fewer students and more teachers throughout Paul's district.  This proves what we've known all along, the MEA and other government union allies are only looking out for themselves and not the well-being of our children. In addition, a letter from a teacher's union official to its membership came out and said that this election is a "referendum on the Republican agenda in Lansing."  This again confirms what we've known all along, that Rep. Paul Scott is nothing but a scapegoat for them.  This recall effort is designed to push Michigan back to the Granholm era of high taxes, bad teachers and no jobs!

Please join us at the Genesee County GOP Victory Center and help keep Michigan going forward!  Even an hour of your time on the phones or going door-to-door will make a difference!  Visit us at the Genesee County GOP Victory Center, Grand Mall Suite D-2 (Inside the mall, next to Luca's Chophouse), 12741 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc.  They are open 7 days a week from 9:00am-9:00pm.  Contact Gary Koutsoubos at 517-348-9700 or gkoutsoubos@migop.org for more information.

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.
