News & Events

Dear Friends,

On August 9th in Wisconsin, Democrats tried to recall 6 GOP senators, in an attempt to gain a foothold in the state's legislature. The Democrats lost in 4 of those races.  The losses came despite a $14 million effort waged by unions and liberal groups - from across the country - including AFL-CIO, UAW, AFSCME, move on.org, Teamsters, UFCW, NEA, SEIU, and people for the American Way!

In Michigan, Democrats have recall language filed against 24 Republicans, with over 12,000 signatures for Representative Paul Scott alone. Purportedly, they also have enough for new Representative Nancy Jenkins of Adrian/Lenawee (in the 7th Congressional District). Others could follow. These elections will occur during our Presidential primary next year. Republicans will likely have a 4-1 turnout advantage in that primary, but we must get out and vote!  Only then will Democratic recall efforts fail. Stay informed, help keep your friends and family informed, keep talking with your elected representatives, and above all, VOTE at every opportunity!

Dave Camp Appointed to New Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction

Congressman Dave Camp

For the House Republican members of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, Speaker John Boehner appointed House Ways & Means Committee Chair Dave Camp of our 4th District. This gives us all a great opportunity to let Dave know just what we expect for true deficit reduction and cuts in federal spending!  Analysis in the Daily Caller believes this bodes well for no tax increases, but we need to remind our Congressman to hold to that principle.  Along with Dave, Speaker Boehner appointed conservative "young gun" Jeb Hensarling and Fred Upton, also of Michigan.

Defending The American Dream Summit
Americans For Prosperity

Make plans now for the 5th annual Defending the American Dream Summit.

Americans for Prosperity Foundation and thousands of grassroots activists will gather on Friday and Saturday, November 4-5 at the Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, DC.  Last year, more than 2,600 activists descended on Washington for the Summit to demonstrate to elected officials, government bureaucrats, and the national media that the grassroots movement is alive and well.  They focused on reining in out-of-control spending and taxation, advancing sound free market public policy, and in a very real way, defending the American Dream.

In addition to networking with leading activists from across the country, the Summit also includes state-specific strategy meetings, seminars, a movie night featuring films by liberty-loving filmmakers, and the gala dinner on Friday.

Special bus packages are running from Michigan and until midnight August 14th, you can register for an additional $70 off those all-inclusive bus packages. Sign up now to take advantage of this great opportunity! Use the code "Bus70" when registering.  Bus packages from Michigan include round trip transportation and hotel accommodations on top of all the other benefits of the Defending the American Dream Summit.

Defending liberty and promoting prosperity is a family affair.  Give your children the gift of freedom and bring the whole family to the Defending the American Dream Summit this year.  There is a discount for families and small groups.

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.
