Dear Friends,
The county reapportionment committee has concluded its work for the 2010 Census data and adopted a plan. The number of County Commission districts was reduced from 15 to 11, which will save the county some money, though we were hoping for even more savings. The adopted plan can be downloaded from the Saginaw County website.

The Michigan Republican 5th District Committee and a consortium of other local Republican organizations are presenting the 3rd Annual Reagan Memorial Dinner Cruise. The cruise takes to the Saginaw River on Thursday, July 28th, from 7:00-9:00 pm aboard Bay City Boatlines "Islander."
This relaxing cruise will take a trip through historic Bay City and follow the river toward Saginaw Bay. This is a casual, semi-seated event and guests will enjoy a delicious catered buffet and an informal, relaxed evening of fun and politics! Alcoholic beverages may be purchased from the onboard cash bar. Special guests will include Republican leaders and candidates for statewide office. The location is just south of the M-25 Veteran's Bridge in front of the Horak Printing building in downtown Bay City, and parking is adjacent to dock.
Dinner proceeds will benefit the 5th District. Silent auctions will also be held to benefit individual county parties. Cost is $50 per person, which includes the buffet dinner. Student tickets are $35. A pre-cruise 6:00pm VIP reception is an additional $25 per person. You can reserve your tickets by calling 989-652-4898 or by visiting the cruise website. Republican National Committee Chairman To Speak
|  The Macomb County Republican Party will hold their 2011 Lincoln Dinner on Thursday, June 16th. Keynote speaker will be Reince Priebus, Republican National Committee Chairman and special guest will be Robert Schostak, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. The dinner is at the Sterling Inn Banquet and Conference Center, 34911 Van Dyke Av, Sterling Heights, MI. Prices are $55 per person for the General Reception or $150 per person for the Private Reception with Photo Opportunity. Both include dinner. Freedom, Family, and Fatherhood Rally
|
 The Frederick Douglass Foundation of Michigan is sponsoring a Freedom, Family, and Fatherhood Rally on Saturday June 18th. The event begins at 4:00pm with a Meet and Greet Reception, followed from 5:00-7:00pm by a Rally and Program. Speakers include Legislator of the Year Representative Ken Horn, and MIGOP Ethnic Vice Chair Linda Lee Tarver. We will be honoring Henry Hatter for his dedication to conservative causes. The program is free, and everyone is welcome. It will be held at Kettering University, 1700 University Avenue, Flint. Joining The Frederick Douglass Foundation of Michigan as sponsors are the Michigan Republican 5th District Committee and the Republican Parties of Bay, Genesee, Saginaw and Tuscola Counties, the Saginaw County Republican Women's Club, Saginaw Tea Party, and Western Thumb Tea Party. The event celebrates both Black fathers and Juneteenth. We often do not take the time to celebrate the diligence and strength of our Black fathers. We hear so many stories that degrade our Black men, but rarely hear of stories that elevate and celebrate Black fathers, and acknowledge their accomplishments and dedication to their families. Join us on Father's Day weekend as we celebrate and honor our Black fathers, past and present.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers landed at Galveston, Texas with the news that the war had ended and that the slaves were now free. We celebrate Juneteenth to encourage a continuum of self reliance, excellence, and achievement without bounds. These are standards which have been partially lost in distressed urban communities. We intend to use this celebration to advance the values of family and personal responsibility.

Student Statesmanship Institute Summer Program
|  The Student Statesmanship Institute has announced its 2011 Summer Program of Five Life-transforming Days! The program will be held three different times, to allow it to fit into anyone's schedule, on either June 26-July 1, or July 10-15, or July 24-29.
This program helps to prepare teenagers to live out and defend their faith in high school, college and in the marketplace of ideas. It involves hands-on leadership and Biblical Worldview Training for high school students. Help your student develop their full leadership potential! Register your student asap, while there is still space. |
