News & Events

Dear Friends,

Our Republican legislators have worked tirelessly to make necessary change, yet are consistently receiving negative publicity!  Here are some of our legislators' accomplishments:

Ending lifetime welfare,

Repealing of the Michigan Business Tax.

Working to balance the State's budget - (earlier than usual),

Passing legislation to stop step increases for teachers without contracts,

Introducing teacher tenure reform to remove tenure after 2 poor annual evaluations,

Stopping community health departments from giving bridge cards to college students,

Introducing legislation to abolish the prevailing wage laws for the state funded projects.

Help us to write positive letters to the media and online.   Everyone needs to help!

Hurrah For The Next Generation!

US Debt

The snapshot of the US Debt Clock above is the bad news.  The good news is that increasing numbers of our younger voters have recognized that THEY will be the people expected to pay this back. In a stunt that went mostly unnoticed by the national media might, students in March and early April protested the country's $14 trillion debt by displaying 40-foot-long "National Debt Clocks" on their campuses.  The protest took place at more than 75 colleges and was organized by Young Americans for Liberty.  "There is a growing youth movement in this country very concerned about our fiscal future, and we are proud to lead the way," said Jeff Frazee, YAL's executive director.  You can read more at the Daily Caller.

Furthermore, the College Republican National Committee in cooperation with Let Freedom Ring, rolled out the website "WheresYourPlan.com". The site asks youth to challenge President Barack Obama to present a plan to save Medicare, which he has so far failed to do.  Having no plan, however, has not stopped the Democrats from attacking the plan that Republican House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan has introduced. Let Freedom Ring's executive director Alex Cortes, age 22, said his generation has "the greatest stake in the Medicare reform debate and so far only the House Republicans have presented a serious plan to restore the program's solvency."  On their newly launched website, the conservative groups ask America's youth to sign onto a letter to Obama.

The letter reads in part, "Medicare trustees report it will be bankrupt in 13 years.  We want Medicare for our generation if we're going to be forced to pay into the program. You don't have a plan to make it solvent. The GOP does."

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.
