Dear Friends,
Our new website is up and running, with new information posted every few days! The best news is that it's still at the same location, www.saginawcountygop.com. Check it out and check it often, for new events and news articles that we can't fit in the weekly newsletter.
Also, as we have a new headquarters open, we need volunteers to staff it, make phone calls, etc. If you can help, please call Brian Frey at headquarters, at 517-214-9334. And please call Brian if you have locations for campaign signs: we need to be visible. Thank you, we all need to do whatever we can to win in November.

Government to Borrow from YOU...Whether You Like It Or Not?
|

Legislation is currently being proposed by Senators Jeff Bingaman and John Kerry that could force as many as 60 million Americans to invest in government bonds in mandatory retirement accounts. The law would require both employers and employees to pay into a retirement account for every employee and also require that a portion of that "contribution" go into a federal-government created annuity that would be funded by purchasing Treasury debt. Looks like we won't need to borrow from the Chinese if the government can just take our retirement funds! The Department of Labor held hearings with the Department of Treasury to discuss the plan. Such legislation could create some 60 million potential new Investment Retirement Accounts (IRAs), according Mark Gutrich, president of Denver-based ePlan Services. That would make the Department of Labor the largest pension administrator in the nation, with the government taking over administration of your IRAs. It's still in the talking stages at this time, but doesn't this sound similar to the mandate for us all to purchase health insurance under ObamaCare? "This is another attempt by government to tell individuals what they have to do with their own money, stripping them of the right to make their own personal investment and life decisions," stated Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson. And, of course, such a plan would create an incentive for Congress to keep borrowing even more money, because it would just pay us back the principal and interest as needed by selling even more treasury bonds! All of which would make ever reducing or retiring the national debt next to impossible. Could that be exactly what the Democrats have in mind?
