Federal Government Working Hard to NOT Enforce Federal Laws
Judicial WatchYou may have heard on the news last week that the Obama Justice Department's lawsuit against the State of Arizona has TEMPORARILY stopped portions of its tough new illegal immigration enforcement law from taking effect.   Judicial Watch is representing Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, the author of Arizona's law, and they are gearing up for what promises to be a legal battle of epic proportions.

It has now come down to a fight between those who want to enforce federal immigration laws and those who do not.  The Obama White House wants to kill this law because it doesn't want to bear its constitutional responsibility to secure the border and enforce our nation's immigration laws.  The standard used by the judge who granted the TEMPORARY injunction is that enforcing the law MAY make it difficult and expensive for the federal government.  By such a ridiculous standard, no law could ever be enforced!

If you wish to help Judicial Watch pursue this expensive battle , visit their website for more information and perhaps a tax-deductible contribution to Judicial Watch.  This is a critical and potentially defining moment in the fight against illegal immigration.  Losing this battleground in Arizona is not an option. and this is just the beginning of a long and critical struggle that is sure to find its way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Currently, similar laws are being drafted or considered in nearly 20 states, including Michigan.  If we expect to have a law that survives the legal challenges, supporting Arizona's law is an important first step.

Saginaw County Republican Convention
Judicial Watch
Last minute reminder to all of our precinct delegates, old and new: our County Convention will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 7:30pm.  The location is the Thomas Township Public Safety Building, 8215 Shields Dr.  At this convention, we will be electing delegates to attend the Michigan State convention on August 28, 2010, in East Lansing.

Defending The Dream Summit
Americans For Prosperity
For those of you NOT going to the State Convention, here's another event of interest.  Americans for Prosperity Foundation will hold their
4th Annual Defending the American Dream Summit on August 27-28th.  The event will be held in Washington, DC the Friday before Glen Beck's Restoring Honor Rally. More than 100 Michigan activists came to last year's DC Summit and were educated and inspired by Newt Gingrich, Sen. Jim DeMint, Laura Ingraham and many more conservative voices.

If you're going, you can register at Defendingthedream.org.  Also, AFP-Michigan will be chartering buses to DC, so e-mail them at infomi@afphq.org if you want updates about that.  Make sure if you book a trip to DC that you're there in time for a full day of great speakers, grassroots training and AFP Foundation's "Tribute to Ronald Reagan" Dinner.  AFP Foundation will also provide registrants with FREE transportation to the Glenn Beck rally on August 28th.

The Republican mission seeks to maintain a strong defense, encourage individual achievement and liberty through the free enterprise system, and strengthen families.  If you would like to help us move the area and the country towards these goals, please consider donating to the Saginaw County Republican Committee.  Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help ensure that we can find and elect people to work for those goals.  You can do so by mail to PO BOX 6653, Saginaw, MI  48608 or on the web at www.saginawcountygop.com.

Sincerely,
Saginaw County Republican Party
