Dear Friends,

Please consider becoming a Precinct Delegate.  Precinct Delegates are the true grassroots of the Republican Party, because they attend the conventions and vote for candidates to appear on the ballot and for the Party platform and rules.  Saginaw County is allotted 419 Precinct Delegates, but we typically have many vacancies.  It's very easy to run, you only have to file an affidavit with the County Clerk.  There is no need to collect signatures to appear on the ballot this August.

The filing deadline is May 11. Please contact Chair Tim Kellyif you are interested. And please pass this information on to others who may be interested.

Health Care Freedom Petitions
Don't Tread On My Health Care
The Michigan Republican Party will be hosting an informational meeting Monday, April 19 on circulating a petition to help protect Michigan residents' health care.  Meetings will be at 1:00pm , 3:00pm and 7:00pm at the Fix Michigan Center.  Topics will include: What is the Michigan Health Care Freedom Petition,How can I help, What are some effective ways to get signatures?

This petition would place an issue on the Michigan ballot this November. If passed, it would create a Michigan Constitution amendment to accomplish several things, including prohibiting the government to require citizens to participate in any health care system, and establishing a right of citizens to purchase health care individually.

The Fix Michigan Center is in Grand Blanc, at 12741 S. Saginaw Rd, in the Grand Mall, Suite D-2(use I-75 to exit 108, Holly Road). You can find more info at the Michigan Citizens For Healthcare Freedomwebsite, or by e-mailng the Center at amarkwort@migop.org.

Also, Louisiana Congressman John Fleminghas created a petition at his website. He's asking people whether you feel members of Congress should be forced to enroll themselves in the health care plan they vote for? He'll be passing the results on to his colleagues.

Tax Day Tea Party Rallies
Don't Tread On Me
An observation from member Don Milne on the various Tea Party rallies held last week:

I attended a rally at the Midland County Courthouse last week. It was the usual pleasant crowd of folks disgusted with the size, scope, and cost of government, especially the Federal government. Speakers highlighted various aspects, including of course the health care legislation recently passed by Congress.

What most impressed me though, was the size of the crowd. When I arrived there were between 500-600 people present. Midland County has a population of 82,874 in the 2000 Census. If this ratio is applied to the entire country of 281,421,906 (disregarding current estimates of growth since then), then it is very possible that about 1,700,000 people turned out for a rally on April 15 somewhere in this country! This a huge protest, and a lot of very dissatisfied voters!

I only hope they all turn out in November and help vote OUT the Democrats who have given us this debacle.
