Keeping Up The Health Care Fight
|
Unhappy with the passage of the Health Care Bill (and according to polls, about 58% of us are)? Well, it's back in the Senate for some action, so it's not really over yet. And, several groups or government officials are beginning actions to repeal the law or file lawsuits to find it
unconstitutional.
If you want to register your continued opposition, there are several petitions sponsored by legislators you can sign.
The Senate Conservatives Fund has a petition at http://repealitpledge.com/. They have endorsed four Senate candidates for
the 2010 elections who have all pledged to repeal ObamaCare and
they're all rock-solid conservatives who will fight to defend liberty. Though none of them would represent Michigan, you may wish to support their "Repeal ObamaCare Pledge."
Sen. Cameron S. Brown, a candidate for the Republican nomination for Secretary of State, is co-sponsor of Senate Joint Resolution K,
which would allow Michigan residents to vote to amend the Michigan Constitution guaranteeing our right to make our own health care
decisions. Thirty-eight other states are in the process of adopting
similar measures. He is asking for people to write their State Senators, urging them to place this proposed amendment on the November ballot. If you would like to see this proposal advanced, you can find more information on Senator Brown's website at http://www.cameronsbrown.com/. Also, Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, a candidate for Governor, will challenge the
constitutionality of Obamacare along with other Attorney Generals from
across the Country. Mike believes, as many of us do, that Congress' attempt to force Michigan families to buy
health insurance is unconstitutional. Mike is going to court and to help gauge public opinion, he is asking people to sign a petition at http://mikecox2010.com/petition-health-care-bill. |
Michigan Taxpayers To Rally
|
Another Taxpayer Tea Party (has it been a whole year since the first one already?) will be held at the Michigan State Capitol on Thursday, April 15th. The event is scheduled for 11:30am to 1:30pm in Lansing. Rich Michaels, from radio station WMMQ, and Kyle Olson of Education Action Group will be
joining as speakers. And, you can expect the Capitol steps and lawn to be full of
activist leaders, just like last year!

Tuscola Tax Day Tea Party
|
For those of you who don't want to travel all the way to Lansing, Lisa Valentine of the Western Thumb TEA Party says they are ready for their Second Annual Tuscola Tax Day Tea Party. The event is on Thursday, April 15, from 6:00pm to
8:30pm.
The Western Thumb TEA Party Group welcomes you to join them at the Auction
Barn at the corner of M-46 and Vassar Rd., just north of Vassar. Because it's indoors, they can make sure the event goes on even if there is bad
weather! This group
had its humble beginnings with a house gathering in Vassar, in June of 2009.
It's growth has been fueled by the dedication of its volunteers, and
the concerns of the citizens of our community,. They are constantly looking for ways to
become involved and holding accountable those in government. The group stands for the principles expressed in the Constitution that have made this country great and welcome all who share a love of this country and want the best for
it.
