Just When You Thought Your Health Care Was Safe
|
Yes, just when you thought government-run health
care might finally be dead, Patients First warns that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has come up with a procedural trick. It would require the House to pass
the Senate's bill and then rely on the Senate to pass requested changes to
the bill through a rarely-used parliamentary maneuver known as
reconciliation. This would not only circumvent the normal rules of the
Senate but, most importantly, would enact into law exactly what the
American public has stated it doesn't want - government-run health
care! We've spoken up against a government takeover of health
care every chance we've had: polls, elections, letter-writing, and
townhall meetings. While this has significantly slowed government
takeover plans, it hasn't permanently stopped them. So call or write your Congressman and Senators again to make sure this doesn't keep moving. It's time to start all over from scratch. We need health care reform that lowers cost, maintains or improves the integrity of
the doctor-patient relationship and prevents the government from
controlling what health care insurance you can buy.Congressman Dave Camp: http://camp.house.gov/Congressman Dale Kildee: http://www.house.gov/kildee/Senator Carl Levin: http://levin.senate.gov/Senator Debbie Stabenow: http://stabenow.senate.gov/

This forum is an opportunity for you to get to know the candidates running for Governor on the Republican ticket in the August 2010 primary election. All 5 Republican Gubernatorial Candidates have agreed to appear: Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Attorney General Mike Cox, US Congressman Pete Hoekstra, Michigan Senator Tom George, and Ardesta CEO Rick Snyder. Each candidate will present himself and position, and there will be a question and answer session afterward. Campaign literature and refreshments will also be available.
