Dear Friends,
WOOOHOOO! A Republican takes the people's seat in Massachusetts for the first time in 47 years! And only a month after Republicans took 2 governorships back. It can be done, and we can do it here. The focus of this issue is on things we can all do to keep this momentum rolling and take Michigan back. One thing YOU can do is to help educate your friends and family by getting them on the mailing list for this newsletter. Simply pick 5 (or more) of your friends and family, click the " Forward This Email To Your Friends" link here or at the bottom, and ask them to sign up for it. We're currently mailing to nearly 600 people now, but wouldn't it be great to reach 5 times as many?!

The Citizens' State Of The State Response
|
On Wednesday, February 3, Governor Granholm will deliver her annual S tate of the State address in Lansing.
The Michigan Taxpayer's Association, Common Sense in Government, and other groups are planning a Tea Party State of the
State outside the Capitol building while the Legislature listens to her inside. What would happen if hundreds, maybe thousands, of
people drove to Lansing that evening and protested outside the Capitol Building?
Let's find out! It's time to seize the day. It's time to drive
to Lansing (dress VERY warm!), and join them outside on the steps of the State
Capitol Building. Bring your protest signs and join with fellow frustrated
taxpayers in demanding an end to Lansing's failed policies of tax hikes,
spending increases and broken promises. The event is from 6:30-8:30pm.
Common Sense in Government will provide glow sticks. Please do not
bring candles, as they drip wax that has to be cleaned up, but feel
free to bring your own glow sticks! Hot Chocolate will be available. Bring
your family, friends and coworkers. The more people we have at this 'State
of the Citizen Address', the more the media and (most importantly) the politicians
inside the Capitol will pay attention.
They will also set up folding chairs outside, reserved for state legislators who will be invited to do something
that no politician in the history of the State of Michigan has ever done
before: skip the Governor's State of the State Speech and come outside into
the cold to listen to citizens. And that's the other way you can help, even if you can't come to the rally. Call or write your legislator and ask them to skip the smoked salmon buffet and their comfy seat in the House Chamber,
and come outside to listen to the "State of the Taxpayer." See http://www.makelansinglisten.com/ for more information.

Pizza & Precinct Delegates |
Bill Schuette, currently a Court of Appeals judge, is running for Attorney General this year. He is hosting a "Pizza
& Precinct Delegates" event at the Timber's Restaurant, 6415 State St. in Saginaw. The event will be Monday,
February 8th at 6:00pm.
The focus of the meeting is to give our Republican Precinct Delegates
a chance to get to know Bill, so that when you go to the State Convention this year you will be ready to vote for Bill Scheutte. And, for those of you who are not yet Precinct Delegates, we hope to have a notary there so you can sign up on the spot.
Get more information on Bill at http://www.billschuette.com/. The event is free and so is the pizza!
