4th Congressional District Round Up
Christmas decorationTo kick-off a new election year, Michigan's 4th Congressional District hosts its District Round Up on January 8 and 9, 2010.  This event includes dinner on January 8 and lunch on January 9, with speakers both days.  It's a chance to meet various candidates for state office next year, including some candidates for Governor.

Friday, January 8 has Congressman Dave Camp for the keynote speaker.  Saturday, January 9 will have a discussion panel and candidates for State Representatives and State Senators.  As always, the event is a great way to meet other Republicans and enjoy some good company.  It is held at the Doherty Hotel, Clare, Michigan.

Tickets are $65 for the full event, or $50 for just the Friday dinner, $15 for Saturday breakfast, or $25 for Saturday lunch.  You can purchase any event separately.  For anyone wishing to stay overnight, The Doherty Hotel has provided special room rates: be sure to tell them your are attending the Round Up.  Checks or requests for more information should be sent to:
Patrick Tiedt, Treasurer

Checks are due by January 4, 2010.

New Website Makes It Easy To Find Assistance
Budget WoesUnfortunately, times are tough for many of us in Michigan.  There is assistance out there and the State of Michigan has a new "Helping Hand" website that provides easy access to information about programs and services for people facing economic hardship.  On this site you will find information about unemployment benefits, food assistance, affordable medical care, and help with mortgage troubles, as well as other useful information.  To visit the site, go to www.michigan.gov/helpinghand.

As President Ronald Reagan noted in a 1987 speech, "College Republicans are a vital force in conservative politics. You are the vanguard of the Republican Party. I know that the strength of young people's support for our Party will ensure the continued success of Republican goals as you begin to assume leadership roles in the Party and in our Nation."  So please support our local College Republicans of Saginaw Valley State University.
