Courier Services

Consolidation & Management

The cost savings associated with Courier Services Consolidation & Management is an often overlooked financial advantage for many companies in a wide variety of business fields. Logistical courier service is often in danger of becoming an 'invisible' service, with the contract drivers operating out in the field, away from the daily physical view and interactions with key decision makers and department managers. Often, the only time we even think about the courier service is when something is lost or late, or we receive an unexpectedly high invoice.

By stepping back and taking a high-level, overall view of the current courier services and needs, many businesses often discover that they are actually paying multiple small courier companies to service various routes that often crisscross each other, or worse, nearly duplicate their stop schedules.

Due to employees often requesting that driver's make small changes to their stop schedules, the courier routes tend to grow and expand without the authorization or knowledge of management. And, with no overall master route plan in place, there is no incentive for any of the contract courier companies to try to improve the routing with an eye towards creating either costs savings or time/service efficiencies. This results in both financial waste and lost opportunities for logistical and client service improvements.

Courier Services Consolidation and Management is an area which OMG can offer any client the potential for significant savings and service improvement. OMG  manages the logistical services for a large hospital chain in Northern and Central California, as well as several other medical clients in the same area. By carefully reviewing the current pricing and overall routing schedule, OMG has been able to work with these clients to identify superior service vendors.

These courier companies have been considered due to their world-class service levels, nationwide presence, and enhanced technological capabilities, which have resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cost savings to our clients. In addition, the clients have also gained significant service improvements in such areas as dispatching, parcel tracking, and data reporting.

OMG follows up on the initial cost and service benefits by providing onsite logistical management, regular tracking of the courier data, and making periodic recommendations for further savings and route efficiencies.

Far from being an 'invisible' service, contract couriers are a critical component of any organization's daily operations and often have a financial impact on the bottom line far greater than what one might initially think. By focusing on Courier Service Consolidation & Management, any organization stands to gain considerable savings and efficiencies.
