"It was so cool to see how God gave us so many chances to just hang out and give the kids attention in so many ways!"
-Brennan, Nate, & Taylor
Dear Friends and Supporters,
The above quote is from three wonderful young men who recently spent some time at Holy Trinity Institute. We are very excited to share their photos and adventure in this month's newsletter story. We hope you love all of the pictures that so vividly capture the love, and fun, and joy that Brennan, Nate and Taylor showered on the children at the Orphanage. Enjoy!

"Fernando (the boy with the huge smile) was one of the first kids we hung out with and were able to connect with. It was a challenge not knowing the language very well, but our non-verbal communication skills increased over the course of our stay." ------------------------------------------------------------------- "It was amazing how just having a soccer ball allowed us to connect with the kids. It didn't matter that we couldn't speak Portuguese very well; we know how to play soccer! The kids were amazing, I might add, so it was definitely a workout!" -------------------------------------------------------------------- "We helped with projects during the day, but it was really cool to see how God gave us chances to hang out and give the kids lots of attention... ...like teaching the kids how to whistle loud! ...Thumb Wars was possibly the second most popular sport at the orphanage -- following well behind soccer, of course!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Much of the time we were involved with a lot of sanding and putting finish on doors. We also finished wooden supports in front of the orphanage where the children stay for protection against the weather. We were able to finish most of the doors and wooden supports during our stay, but there is still much more to be done." ---------------------------------------------------------------- "It was awesome to work on these projects while many of the younger children were around, because sometimes they would help and we would just enjoy their company." -------------------------------------------------------------- "The first few days we were in Porto Alegre, and we were able to visit some of the local churches that many of the seminary students at Seminario Concordia started. It was awesome to see God's hand at work across the globe. At one of our stops we were able to practice with the church choir (not knowing many of the words, of course) and Nate helped with the warm-ups!" ----------------------------------------------------------------- We were able to visit some addiction recovery institutions and were able to pray with many individuals there. After a message and devotion by a local pastor at the men's institution, we played soccer, which became one of the best ways we connected with the people." ---------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't it so exciting to hear about their trip? I know the children at HTI will never forget the love and attention these young men gave them. We know that you are already praying for the children at HTI. Please include these young men in your prayers for the difference they made across the world. And please pray for more opportunities for future mission trips like theirs to be possible.
