The ParentSmart app features both quick, on-the-go reminders of good parenting techniques and useful features that take full advantage of your iPhone's capabilities (calendar, contacts management, picture organization, lists, data keeping) to help you daily be the best parent you can be and keep from feeling overwhelmed.

| TIPS FROM THE NEW ParentSmart APP! |
This month I'm going to give you a quick user's guide to my ParentSmart app, and a few sample tips for you to use immediately.
Each time you open the ParentSmart app you'll find a "Thought for the Day" on the home screen to provide parenting inspiration (and sometimes a little humor from a quote). The first time you use the app you'll take a few simple steps to enter each child's info (and a photo if you like) and then you are ready to start getting organized!
ParentSmart has a "CALENDAR" to keep track of your children's schedules and a "FRIENDS" section to store their contacts (friends, teachers, babysitters, doctors, etc.). In addition to these two functions, which sync with your phone's main calendar and contacts, the app has other organizational tools:
* In the "HEALTH" section, you can maintain quick and easy access to accurate medical information for each child, such as weight and height, the most recent antibiotic taken, the date of a vaccination, or a list of illness symptoms. Having these records at your fingertips will help minimize stress, whether it's during an emergency, at a doctor appointment, when filling out school or camp forms, or when traveling.
* "LISTS" will keep you organized and they are also an important tool for modeling self-discipline for your children. Keeping track of things one might desire or need, instead of making impulse purchases, fosters restraint and can help you avoid some shopping tantrums. For example, when your child wants you to buy a new toy, show that you are putting it on a 'wish list' on the app so that, when the next birthday or holiday comes around, it may become a gift, if still desired.
* We always think that we will remember all of our children's 'firsts,' their hilarious antics, and their clever observations, but often these recollections become blurry unless recorded immediately. The "MEMORIES" section of ParentSmart is a place to treasure all those moments of childhood by mixing written entries with photos. You'll be able to recall them with a touch of the screen.
And, of course, you'll find all my "PARENTING ADVICE" and "TOP PICKS" under "MEG'S TIPS."
All my suggestions have appropriate age ranges, and you can "BOOKMARK" pieces of advice you want to remember and put any of my recommendations for products and activities directly onto a child's appropriate "LIST."
