Dr. Milton Chen is senior fellow and executive director, emeritus at The George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF), a non-profit operating foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area that utilizes its multimedia website Edutopia.org and documentary films to communicate a new vision for 21st Century schools. He served as executive director of GLEF for 12 years. During his tenure, GLEF and its media brand, Edutopia, greatly expanded their editorial publishing efforts, including the award-winning Edutopia magazine. Edutopia.org is known as a destination Web site for educators and others interested in educational innovation and has won numerous honors, including the 2009 Webby People's Voice Award for best education website.

Michelle is a dynamic keynote speaker and a highly-regarded consultant in the areas of leadership, teambuilding, and experiential learning. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Kansas State University and a Master's degree in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University at Mankato. Michelle is currently partnering with Stephen M.R. Covey and his partners at CoveyLink to develop experiential initiatives for Mr. Covey's most recent book, The Speed of Trust.

KONY 2012 is a short film created by Invisible Children and released on March 5th, 2012 to launch the "Stop Kony" campaign. The video has amassed over 85 million views on YouTube, 16.6 on Vimeo and countless other viewings from the Kony 2012 website. The film seeks to stop Joseph Kony, the world's worst war criminal as listed on the International Criminal Court's "Most Wanted" list.

STUDENT ARTWORK NEEDED  

Artwork for Student Hall of Fame

Student Artwork-2011We want to highlight your students! The BOOST Student Hall of Fame features artwork from all over the country to share with educators upon arrival to the conference.


Artwork can be mailed to the Los Angeles County Office of Education After School Technical Assistance Unit or dropped off. Please call Lily Madrigal at the After School Technical Assistance Unit of LACOE at at (562) 401-5335 so she can provide you with instructions as to office location, etc. for delivery.

Student Artwork Guidelines
  • Artwork must be mounted on poster board
  • All artwork must have name, grade of each student involved, program name, city and state in the lower right hand corner of the board

Artwork for Table Centerpieces

The BOOST Conference is seeking table centerpieces made by students from recycled materials.

Table Centerpieces Guidelines
  • All centerpieces need to be created from recycled materials and not any taller than 5 inches
  • All centerpieces need to be packed in a box with a lid when delivered.
  • All boxes should be marked with the name of the program and number of centerpieces in the box.
Centerpieces
Programs donating centerpieces and artwork will be recognized in the final BOOST Conference Brochure,  on the BOOST Conference website and during the conference.
                                
Please Note: The BOOST Conference cannot assume any responsibility for centerpieces and will not be returning any of them.

Deadline to submit artwork and centerpieces is Friday, April 6.
