PRE-CONFERENCE ACADEMY: MAKING PROGRESS WITH ENGLISH LEARNERS
Join us on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 for our comprehensive Pre-Conference Academy. This session is a full day event (6 hours) and includes lunch and workshop materials.

Dr. FisherWhat do English learners need to reach higher levels of success and what can after school programs do to contribute to that success?  In this session, we focus on quality instruction for English learners, with special attention to supplemental intervention in the after school program.  To increase their proficiency, English learners need more opportunities to practice language and learn the structure and function of language.  Importantly, they need to do this in supportive and engaging environments with adults who care about them and their progress.

Facilitated by Douglas Fisher, Ph.D., San Diego State University, San Diego, CA
