President's Message
It's the start of the Summer Season and a perfect time to capitalize on ONE big
thing that makes Winchester so special. THINK COMMUNITY!!
The EN KA Fair has come and gone with a resounding success once again! Do
you know that over 300 folks march in the EN KA parade to pay tribute to this community based non-profit that funds so many Winchester programs? Next comes TOWN DAY which is sure to be another crowd pleaser. If your business is not represented on the downtown streets - well, you are missing a seasoned
marketing opportunity. And then we see the start of this years' FARMER'S MARKET which brings the Town Common to a whole new dimension throughout the summer and fall. These three events bring visitors from far and wide who want to experience the special character and beauty of our SMALL TOWN
NEW ENGLAND COMMUNITY that some of us might simply take for granted.
So focus some time getting to know the names of your customers, neighbors, shopkeepers, restaurant owners & servers, and local service providers. Be a visible part of our community. Customer loyalty and ready referrals are the best advertizing for your business.
Several Chamber Board members recently met with folks from the Farmer's Market and Town Manager's/Selectmen's office, to request an opportunity for greater representation at the Market for our Chamber Membership - particularly since the Market does "compete" with a number of downtown and local businesses as well as the parking woes that result from the large crowds. This
debate resulted in a Winchester Chamber of Commerce Tent at the Market and increased parking management!
Watch for details about signing up and "selling" your business under our tent this summer.

Executive Director's message
For the past six years, the Winchester Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Winchester Garden Club and Winchester Home and Garden Club to organize the fund-raising for the hanging baskets that grace our center area from Memorial day thru Labor day. Each year, I continue to be amazed and gratified to find out how many people here in Winchester really love these baskets.
Donations large and small are coming in from so many of you. One of the most memorable donations this year came from the Winchester Cooperative Nursery School thanks to Maureen McWilliams. She asked her preschoolers to please donate their pennies so that the community could continue to enjoy the flowers. They sent us a check for $36 dollars!!!!
Once again, Mahoney's has provided us with the magnificent display and Jay Gill and his staff will water each morning to keep the flowers blooming.
