President's MessageChris Mullen

May you live in interesting times" This Chinese wish has come true, the last two years have been plenty interesting. It has been my pleasure to serve as president of the Chamber for those years; I think we have made some progress. In spite of a rocky economy, the Chamber is strong, and we continue to have a positive impact on Winchester. Our efforts to broaden the membership base to include other civic organizations and home based businesses have been partially successful; the opportunities for collaboration across town organizations are more plentiful than ever.

Thanks to the hard work of many of our members, we have an appealing, up to date website with a searchable database embedded. We have been able to keep this newsletter going and have succeeded in using electronic communications to keep our members informed. We have established a working group to participate in the downtown re-zoning process and we continue to beautify our town center both summer and winter.

Thanks for the chance to lead this organization. I hope to see you all at our holiday gathering on December 16.

                                                       Chris Mulhern, president

Executive Director's message

I would like to take this opportunity to express my most sincere thanks and appreciation to our President, Christopher Mulhern for leading the Winchester Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.  Under his watch, we were able to successfully convince town meeting to increase the number of liquor licenses, reduce the number of seats required for a full liquor license paving the way for the Blackhorse Tavern, defeat tax classification so that commercial properties remained at the same tax rate and continue our strong beautification projects which makes Winchester so more attractive than many other places to live and do business. The new and improved Winchester Chamber of Commerce website was one of his goals which is a great asset to our membership.  He was very involved in helping with the Cal Ripkin tournament and bringing the visitors to our center area.   Chris has on many occasions been able to articulate the mission of the chamber before town meeting, selectmen's meetings and to the other various groups where he has represented the chamber so well.  He is always clear, concise and well spoken.  He has made himself available for the many requests from outside groups to speak and  to help spread the message as to how important the chamber is to the business community.  Chris-you have served us so well.  We are fortunate that you will continue to serve on our board and play an active role in future discussions with the planning board on proposed zoning changes.  Chris, you are an amazing architect, leader and friend.
Thank you so much

    Cathy Alexander  Executive Director

Please send your brochures, flyers, coupons etc. for the Information rack at the Chamber Office. We want to fill it with useful current member info. Brochures about 3 ½ W x 8 ½ H work the best because they stand up well in the rack and are easy to see.
