Let me assure you that I am not predicting or prophesying, I'm simply stating fact. For those of you who have been faithfully walking through the current HARVEST the Kingdom of God 40-day prayer and fasting journey the end is indeed near! This Thursday we will reach the end of our 40-day devotional journey which we began on Resurrection Sunday. Our final weeks' focus will be on the Ascension of Jesus Christ and His Second Coming. You may be asking yourself, where has the time has gone? It seems like we just began our journey and now we have reached the end. If you have been with us for any of the past 40-day prayer and fasting journey's you understand how bittersweet day 40 can be. There is good news this time - our journey does not have to end at day 40 - we have been given an opportunity to tarry a few more days with the Lord!
We have been walking with Jesus these past 40 days as He walked with His disciples, from the day of His Resurrection until the time of His Ascension. We have covered a lot of ground: from Genesis and the covenant with Abraham to the Law of Moses and the Prophets, and walking with Jesus during His earthly ministry leading up to His crucifixion and resurrection. As we come to the time of His ascension, His final instructions to His disciples were for them to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit (reference Acts 1:4-5). We are being invited to continue our journey 10 more days as we walk the path to Pentecost - the Feast of Harvest! This journey is a special journey as I will be sharing my personal journey to Jerusalem during my trip to Israel last June. During these next 10 days you will be able to click on the
"Journey to the Holy Land" button in the top right corner of the
Trumpet and Torch website and visit the Holy Land through photographs and Scriptures. During this 10-day devotional journey we will take our own personal pilgrimage through the pages of Scripture, putting our feet to the very soil and stone that Jesus walked upon and experience the wonder of this amazing and extraordinary land of the Bible!
Later this week you can find all the information about this journey online by clicking on the "Journey to the Holy Land" button. There is no need to register for this journey. Simply click on the button each day and select each day's devotional from the Holy Land main page (take one day at at time as we walk this journey from May 22nd through May 31st).
As you have come to realize, through faithfully feasing on the Word of God, when you commit to spending time with the Lord in His Word and prayer He is faithful to reveal His plans and purposes, if we are willing to listen. During the preparation of this journey the Lord revealed the importance of praying for Israel. This is not a new revelation as we have all been called to remain in prayer for the peace of Israel "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, 'Peace be within you.' For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity" (Psalm 122:6-9). However, the Lord has revealed the urgency of the hour, calling us to a time of fervent and focused prayer from June 1st through June 10th. Please click on the "Praying for Israel: Call to Action" button on the Journey to the Holy Land home page to sign up for our prayer team. During the 10-days of prayer you will receive a daily devotional prayer email to lead you through specific prayers for the Lord's beloved nation Israel. We have no idea what kingdom purposes will be accomplished, or evil defeated, because we have answered this call and knelt before our Lord in humble prayer for the "apple of His eye" (reference Deuteronomy 32:10; Zechariah 2:8).
"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet,
till her righteousness shines out like the dawn,
her salvation like a blazing torch."
(Isaiah 62:1)
"I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the LORD,
give yourselves no rest,
and give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem
and makes her the praise of the earth."
(Isaiah 62:6-7)
