VERTICAL SEARCH GETS BEAUTIFUL
"first of its kind vertical search engine for the professional beauty industry"
Salon and beauty professionals now have a powerful, new Web-based information source - www.ProBeautySearch.com Stylists, cosmetologists, educators, salon owners, beauty students and other salon industry professionals can now easily find targeted, industry-relevant results on any beauty related topic.
The new search capability is available on all Modern Salon Media Web sites: ModernSalon.com, FirstChair.com, SalonToday.com and RenewProfessional.com. Modern Salon Media and Convera Corporation co-developed the site.
According to Scot Stevens, Group Publisher, Modern Salon Media, "ProBeautySearch.com is a powerful search tool for beauty professionals, unlike any Web-based tool offered to beauty industry professionals to date anywhere on the Web. Unlike Google, Yahoo and other all-encompassing search engines that return hundreds of pages of results, most of which are irrelevant or not related to the beauty industry, ProBeautySearch.com is engineered to provide only beauty industry relevant search results. To see the difference, run a search on the term "color" and compare the results to the same search on Google."
Modern Salon Media is the professional beauty publishing division of Vance Publishing Corp. Vance Publishing has been a recognized leader in business information and communications. The company serves select business-to-business markets with 20 magazines, a host of newsletters, web offerings and data and custom media products

-
Analysis of vertical search market dynamics
-
An overview of the vertical search market
-
Essential actions for publishers
According to Outsell, "Vertical search continues to deliver what big search engines miss, and the resulting financial potential remains attractive. Outsell estimates the total ad-supported B2B trade information vertical search market at $518 million in 2007. Our research shows that the user and advertiser needs addressed by vertical search services remain significantly underserved by Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, and AOL. But many B2B trade publishers and information providers that have launched vertical search services have been slow to do what's necessary to use vertical search as a springboard to seed a fast-growing virtuous circle".
