Happy Fall Y'all!
Fall is a m agical time in Red River. The warm sunny days get a little cooler, the beautiful green aspen leaves change to bright hues of yellow, orange, and red, and the higher elevations are filled with the fascinating sounds of elk bugling as they prepare for the winter.
In addition to the annual changes that occur in and around the forest, Red River has a great lineup of special events that make fall the perfect time to visit if you're looking for a relaxing getaway. This year the Red River Chamber of Commerce has combined two favorite fall events into one weekend. The Aspencade Arts & Crafts Fair and the "Days of 1895" (Pioneer Days) will take place September 23-25. Complimenting all of the terrific Main Street shopping you're used to in Red River, Brandenburg Park and the Conference Center will be filled with artists and han d- made crafts vendors carrying home furnishings, jewelry, Christmas gifts & decorations, photography, and more. As a celebration of Red River's "wild, wild west" history, hayrides, historical reenactments, a fast draw competition, spaghetti western, and barn dance will all take place in conjunction with the arts & crafts festival. Live music and entertainment will be provided all weekend and all events are free of charge (including the barn dance with legendary Taos musician Jimmy Stadler). The Red River Ski Area will also be offering a special Autumn Chairlift Ride this weekend with a one-hour round trip ride up the mountain to experience the beautiful fall colors. Find out more about the ride here.
Another favorite fall event in northern New Mexico is Oktoberfest, October 7-9. The natural alpine setting of Red River makes it a perfect venue for authentic German food and music, microwbreweries & wineries, contests & ski trip giveaways, the Ms. Oktoberfest competition, and the Keg Krawl (contestants carry kegs of beer from the park to the Bull o' the Woods Saloon). Lederhosen are not required but definitely encouraged!

Enchanted Circle Challenge New Mexico has long been known as the Land of Enchantment, so it's only fitting that the area surrounding Red River is known as the Enchanted Circle.
