Winter adventure in Red River, New Mexico
What's New?
Ski
This season the Red River Ski Area is proud to announce the addition of a new surface lift (a magic carpet for those "in the know") on the learning hill to get ski school students more time on the snow.
The ski area has also added a new automated snow gun to the west bowl of the mountain to ensure earlier opening of the Silver Chair and some of the notoriously challenging terrain that it services.
On the other end of town the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Area has remodeled their day lodge and expanded their warming hut, rental, and retail areas.
The Enchanted Forest has also added a new overnight yurt that can accommodate up to six people who are interested in spending the night on the trails.
Lastly, the Red River Community House has been hard at work winterizing their building so they can continue to offer FREE family fun year-round.

It Snowed Last Night in Red River!
The Red River Ski Area officially started making snow on November 1st, which would explain the large piles of white stuff you can see from the ski area web cams.  This is just
Snowmaking in Red River
one of the many preparations that goes into getting the ski area ready for business. For over forty consecutive years the Red River Ski & Snowboard Area has opened the day before Thanksgiving to winter sports enthusiasts from around the region, and this year will be no different. What's in it for you? Incredible early-season discounts on lift tickets, lessons, and lodging. Find out about the great deals at www.RedRiver.org.

CommunityHouse Winter Activities at the Community House
Community House
After years of hard work and determination the gang at the Red River Community House has finally been able to have the historic building winterized so they can offer FREE family fun all year long. "We have a new high efficiency heating system, new windows, and new improvements to the plumbing to allow for indoor activities even in the coldest weather," says Eddie Dry. "We still have a lot of work to do on the foundation of the building, which will hopefully come after another year or two of donations to the building's endowment." While the Community House has always been known for their extensive list of summer activities for families, winter guests can now expect guided snowshoe tours, line dancing and square dancing, CHILL! programs for teens and young adults, and weekly international student fellowships. Keep up with the new activities at the Community House here.

Santa Switch on the Holidays!
Will you be in Red River for Thanksgiving? Make plans to join us at the Red River Conference Center on Thanksgiving night for our annual tree lighting and Christmas celebration. We'll start in Brandenburg Park at 7 o'clock for caroling and the tree lighting then move indoors for cocoa, cider, cookies, and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! For more information contact the Red River Conference Center at (877) 885-3885.
Torchlight Parade
Did You Know?
Red River is the only ski area in New Mexico that has weekly fireworks and torchlight parades. This fantastic display of lights has become a "must see" for visitors throughout the winter season. Every Saturday you'll find a group of gutsy skiers & snowboarders at the base of the Platinum Chair entertaining the crowd with a rail jam starting at 5:30 pm. Stick around until 7:00 pm for the torchlight parade & fireworks display. This incredible show is best viewed from the deck of the Lift House Bar & Grill, who traditionally has live music beginning around 6:00 pm. The first torchlight parade of the season is scheduled for November 27th with special parades on December 24th and 31st.
