Gone Fishin' Countless memories have been made at Red River's many public and private ponds and lakes (not to mention the Red River itself). Most of these memories can be credited to fish-stocking programs funded by the Town of Red River, the Red River Chamber of Commerce, and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. The combined
effort provides $28,000 into stocking the Red River and the community
ponds with roughly 7,000 pounds of rainbow trout, twice weekly mid-May
through late-September.
New
Mexico fishing licenses are available at multiple locations around
town, along with everything else you'll need to enjoy your time on the
water. Never been fishing? Consider scheduling some time with
one of Red River's fantastic fly-fishing guides. More information on
fishing is available at the Red River Visitor's Center or online at www.RedRiver.org. |

Update on ATV / OHV Permits
Each summer, thousands of visitors head to Red River to take advantage of cool temperatures and beautiful scenery. For the adventurous types, ATV's or OHV's (Off-Highway Vehicles) can be an exciting way to explore the hundreds of miles of trails surrounding Red River.
The state of New Mexico requires a day use permit for all ATV's/OHV's. You can purchase your permit in advance at any of these locations,
or you can order it by phone and have it faxed to the Red River Chamber
of Commerce ($1.00 additional fee). For more information on how to
obtain your permit and New Mexico's safety rules, click here. For information on permit enforcement, click here. The New Mexico Tourism Department has put together more information about ATV/OHV usage on their website.
