Red River Ski Area
Celebrates 50th
The Red River Ski Area is buzzing with excitement as staff members gear up to host a multitude of 50th anniversary celebration events.  "The ski area opened in 1959, so technically this is the first half of our celebration," says Lauren Judycki-House, Public Relations Manager. "We're just so excited with the new additions and events this year that we couldn't wait."

To celebrate the 50th anniversary the ski area plans to boost up the weekly fireworks and torchlight parades, host an anniversary gala in January, and offer discounts and promotions throughout the season.  "We plan to make this a really fun event," says Wally Dobbs, Ski School Director.  "There won't be anything stuffy about this anniversary."  Dobbs says that every week throughout the season skiers and snowboarders will be able to participate in a celebratory event, "We're looking at doing vintage ski races and vintage fashion shows to get everyone into the spirit of how far we've come in the past fifty years."

Mardi Gras in Red River

Mardi Gras in the Mountains
February 19-24, 2009

If you've ever been to Red River in the winter, chances are you've heard about Mardi Gras in the Mountains. Originally started by a group of Louisiana residents looking to spread "Mardi Gras Fever" into the mountains of northern New Mexico, Red River has become a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders who happen to love beads and costume balls too!  The theme this year is "Hollywood." You'll find a red carpet vibe intertwined with the traditional parades, crawfish boils, krewes, and costume balls that take place here each year. So grab your paparazzi camera and your most glamorous winter coat and head up to Red River for Mardi Gras in the Mountains. You're sure to have a 'dazzling' good time!
