The Mitch and Lynn Baumeister Scholarship |
 Mitch Baumeister, '72, one of the nation's leading aviation trial attorneys, credits Seton Hall Law for providing him with the chance to build a career "working for the little guy." Over the course of his career, he has assisted the victims and families of those who lost their lives in such airline disasters as the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, the crash of Swissair Flight 111 near Nova Scotia, and the World Trade Center attacks on September 11. Grateful for the opportunity he gained to help others, he has become one of Seton Hall Law's strongest supporters. He has taught as an adjunct professor for almost 20 years, is Chair of the Board of Visitors, and with his wife, Lynn, has assisted in numerous fundraising activities. Along with donating the funds to renovate the Law School cafeteria, he and Lynn recently contributed $100,000 to create an endowed scholarship as part of the Seton Hall Law Rising campaign. Success Scholar - Billy Diggs |
 As every law student knows, because something is difficult is no reason not to try. A challenge is just another reason to give it your all. For Billy Diggs, 2L, it's also about driving yourself to see just how far you can go. Already, he has earned an impressive list of accomplishments. He received one of Seton Hall Law's first Success Scholarships for outstanding achievement during his first year. He externed last summer with N.J. Supreme Court Associate Justice Jaynee LaVecchia and last fall with the U.S. Attorney's Office. And he's earned an internship for this summer with the Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG) where he plans to serve upon graduation. Read more... | |

When an alum or friend of Seton Hall Law funds a scholarship, the gift has a direct, and often immediate, impact on a student's life. This year, scholarship supporters had the opportunity to meet with the student recipients benefiting from their philanthropy. They learned about the students' goals and how their scholarships are opening up opportunities. Even in today's electronic age when countless relationships are built and maintained virtually, there is nothing like meeting face-to-face. In February, those who have supported student scholarships at Seton Hall Law received that opportunity when they were able to meet with the recipients who are benefiting from their generosity. "It was very special to have that experience and to be able to connect on that level," noted Robert G. Rose '74, Partner at Day Pitney in Morristown, who with his family has funded the Marcia Richman Scholarship at Seton Hall Law for more than a decade.
