Funders Briefing:
Green Business Development and Job Creation

SkillWorks: Green Collar Career Pathways Initiative and its funders invite you to learn more about green job creation and support for green and sustainable business initiatives on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at The Boston Foundation.

Increasing the number of green jobs has been a nationwide challenge.  This briefing highlights the work of three organizations that
encourage sustainability initiatives within businesses and one that also helps small green businesses get started and grow.  All of these efforts, built on multi-stakeholder partnerships, contribute to increasing the number of green businesses overall, creating new green jobs with existing employers, and/or increasing the demand for green goods and services.
  • David Straus from A Better City will describe the organization's work with medium to large employers through their Challenge for Sustainability initiative.
  • Jennifer Spaziano from ACCIÓN USA will discuss the Green Business Loan and Energy Efficiency Loan programs for small businesses.
  • Katrina Kazda from the Sustainable Business Network will give an overview of the Sustainable Business Leader Program and the organization's services to small businesses.
