Dear Friends,

We wanted to make sure you were aware of upcoming U.S. Department of Energy Residential Retrofit Guidelines Webinars and yesterday's release of a special Green Power edition of the CommonWealth Magazine.

1) Upcoming U.S. Department of Energy Residential Retrofit Guidelines
    Webinars

  • August 4, 2010 @ 2pm EDT: Update & Opportunities for Local Governments, Community Based Organizations, and Organized Labor
  • August 4, 2010 @ 4pm EDT: Update & Opportunities for 2009 Recovery Act Grant Recipients

The U.S. DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) has tasked the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) with developing a suite of voluntary national guidelines for the work and workforce involved in residential energy efficiency retrofits.

This series of webinars are intended to update industry stakeholders about opportunities for engagement with the DOE National Residential Retrofit Guidelines project.  Webinar attendees will receive an update on the development of voluntary national guidelines, which include standard work specifications; job task analyses; knowledge, skills and abilities inventory; and technical reference documents for the residential retrofit market.

Webinars are free, but you need to register in advance.  Click here to register.

2) Special Green Power Edition of the CommonWealth Magazine

A special issue of CommonWealth magazine about green power in Massachusetts was released yesterday by MassINC.  Click here for full issue or go to www.commonwealthmagazine.org which has each article as a separate link for easy viewing.

Of particular note is Michael Jonas' article, "Seeing Green,"  which does an excellent job of painting the whole picture of the state's potential green employment growth by focusing on both the larger macro economic development drivers and real time assessments of the number of jobs that will be available to low skilled workers.
