The Rev. Ernest A. Matson, age 83 of Marshfield, WI, died Monday April 2, 2012 at Ministry St Joseph's Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Zion United Methodist Church, Marshfield, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

Matson served in the US Army from 1951-53. He continued his military career as a Chaplain in the Navy Reserves until he was honorably separated in 1986.

He served as pastor of many congregations during his life of Christian service. He was ordained in June of 1959 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Rockford, IL. Matson then served as Pastor at Bethel Covenant Church, Ellsworth, WI. He also served in many locations with the US Navy as Chaplain. Matson then led churches in Waupaca and Baudette Minnesota.

Matson is lovingly survived by his wife Faith Matson, Marshfield, WI, a foster daughter, Barbara (Reed) Wilson, Santa Rosa, CA, and a brother David Matson, Madison, WI.

A sister, Beulah and foster son, Wayne preceded Rev Matson in death.
