NWC Annual Meeting features reports from affiliated ministries and commissions

Childcare provided during Friday worship service

The 2012 Northwest Conference Annual Meeting, which will feature the theme "Mission Friends: Love Mercy, Do Justice," will take place April 20-21 at Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria, MN. "Love Mercy, Do Justice" is one of the Five Smooth Stones (core ministries) of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

One major component of the Annual Meeting is the opportunity to hear testimony from a variety of commissions and affiliated ministries of the Northwest Conference. Leaders from these essential ministries will give testimony to the great things God is doing through our collective efforts.

Come hear reports from the Parish Nurse Commission, the Town and Country Commission, Minnehaha Academy, a representative from one of the five Covenant camps in our region, Covenant Enabling Residences, Women Ministries, Covenant Retirement Communities of Minnesota, and the Ministerial Association.

Attention Parents:
Alexandria Covenant Church has announced that it will provide nursery care for the Friday night Worship Service during the Annual Meeting.

Soong-Chan RahIn keeping with the theme of this year's meeting, Dr. Soong-Chan Rah will be the keynote speaker for both the NWC Annual Meeting, and the Ministerial Association Annual Meeting, which takes place April 19-20 at the same location.

National Financial Literacy Month

From Covenant Trust Company

April is National Financial Literacy Month: a month dedicated to promoting financial literacy and healthy financial habits. Covenant Trust Company is celebrating by sharing some healthy financial practices.

Create a budget. Without knowing what your income and expenses are, it's difficult to make the best financial choices. Budgets can help you figure out how much you can afford to save and what extraneous expenses you'll need to eliminate. You might be amazed by how much you spend on credit card interest, or pleasantly surprised by how much more you can afford to save and tithe every week.

Learn more about investing. Trusts, annuities and compound interest: familiar concepts perhaps, but what do they mean? How might they affect your wealth, taxes and retirement? Learn more about investing; contact one of our Financial Service Representatives to discuss how prudent investing can help you, your family and the ministries you support.

Plan for retirement. Ask your employer if they have a retirement savings plan, such as a pension or a 401(k) matching program. If not, open an IRA. For more help with retirement, give us a call-it's never too early or too late to start planning for retirement.

National Financial Literacy Month might only last 30 days a year, but the lessons you learn can have a meaningful effect for a lifetime and for generations to come. Contact Kevin Lawson, CFP®, our local FSR at 1-877-222-3960 or kelawson@covenanttrust.com for more information on how healthy financial habits can help you support yourself, your loved ones and your favorite ministries.
