Alaska Project '10 funds still needed

It is our privilege to help our sister churches in Shaktoolik and Unalakleet, Alaska. We have three work teams going this summer to help repair and remodel our church buildings in these villages.

Our current need is to raise additional funds to pay for materials and the transportation costs to transport the supplies. We need to raise an additional $15,000 to cover these costs.

I want to encourage our churches and individuals to consider sending us a special contribution of any amount to help us cover these expenses. There are so many needs in these churches. Please pray for these brothers and sisters in Christ.

Please contact the Northwest Conference office if you have questions.

Announcing Thrive North Dakota: October 15-16

Thrive North Dakota will refresh, invigorate and inspire ministry leaders, staffers and lay volunteers and leaders with a renewed vision of ministry.

"Our staff team has been to two Thrive events at Bayside Covenant Church in California, and the opportunity to expose our region to this training, enthusiasm and joy is an honor and I believe will help transform our people. I would encourage every pastor, team leader, person who works with people to gather as many people as you can and make the journey to Thrive North Dakota. Just the laughter alone will be worth the trip for your soul!" encourages Paul Knight of Hope Covenant Church Grand Forks, ND.

Thrive North Dakota costs $49 and will offer a variety of breakout classes in multiple categories from ministry to personal development. General sessions will be fun, thought-provoking, worship-filled times that will blow the roof off the mall!

Look for more details and registration information coming soon.

CONVERGE Workshops: November 13, Roseville Covenant Church

On Saturday, Nov. 13, the Northwest Conference will host a one-day workshop called CONVERGE. This will be another great opportunity to bring NWC churches together for learning and inspiration. The gathering will take place at Roseville Covenant Church in Roseville, MN. It will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.

The purpose of the day will be to provide practical help to NWC churches by bringing in highly competent presenters to lead break-out sessions covering a wide-range of topics.

Some of the topics included will be:
  • Church Finances for Treasurers
  • Effective Communication Strategies
  • Program Planning Evaluation
  • Community Demographics and local "Soil Analysis"
In the coming months, more information and registration materials will be sent regarding this event. The cost for a church to attend CONVERGE will be minimal and will include all materials and lunch.

This workshop is open to all, but strongly recommended to church leaders. It is just one more way that the Northwest Conference is seeking to fulfill our mission to engage, empower, and equip healthy, missional leaders, knowing that this is pivotal in growing healthy, missional churches.

NWC Church Resource Bank

One great feature of the new Northwest Conference website is our ability to connect churches with specific needs, with those who have resources to share. The site features a "Church Resource Bank," and our vision for this page is that churches with items or resources (e.g. curriculum, equipment, other assets) they no longer have need for would post them for those who might find the resources helpful.

If you think your church has something to share, please email What's Available, Church Name, a brief Description, and Contact Information, to Cheryl at the Northwest Conference office.

NWC videos

New video series highlights ministry priorities of the NWC

The Northwest Conference recently released a series of video segments designed to highlight ministry priorities of the conference, including: "Congregational Vitality," "Church Planting" and "Children, Youth & Family."

The videos are designed for use throughout the year in church new member classes, services and other adult education opportunities to help congregations better understand and engage the work of the Northwest Conference.

The series is currently available on the new NWC web site's video page. The videos are also available in even higher definition on Vimeo (click here) and this would be the ideal source for streaming the series in your church or group.
