Saturday Evening "Late Night"
Bob Stromberg will be performing after the worship service on Saturday evening. In 1995 he co-authored the hit play, Triple Espresso (a highly caffeinated comedy). The play, described by the Los Angeles Times as "... a triple jolt of inspired craziness," has opened in dozens of cities from Seattle to London to Munich, sustaining record setting runs in many of them. In his role the Chicago Sun Times called Bob, "A mesmerizing physical comedian..."

In 2008 ... Bob premiered a new one-man show entitled Mr. Wonderboy. The show, both funny and poignant, is an intimate expression of what it means to be an artist. In comparing him to a young Dick Van Dyke, the Minneapolis Star Tribune said Bob has, "... superb physical malleability, a halting vocal delivery and perfect timing." The St. Paul Pioneer Press said, "Stromberg is a bit like a cross between Bob Newhart and Garrison Keillor."

Hospitality House founder honored at Brookdale Covenant Church

Family and friends of Elwood (Woody) Larson gathered Sunday, June 13, at Brookdale Covenant Church in Brooklyn Center, MN, to celebrate Hospitality House Youth Directions ministry and the man who began it 50 years ago in the back of a station wagon. Executive Director Rev. John Hunter and several of the current members of the board of directors were present, as well as many friends who have supported the work through the years.

The HH Praise Dance team performed at both the morning worship service and the afternoon program, the Brookdale congregation provided a shared meal, and many friends and family spoke during an open mic time.

Woody gives all glory to God, saying in the forward of his recently published History of the Beginnings of Hospitality House Boys Club, "What has seemed so impossible, He has made happen. I thank Him for allowing me to be a spectator to what He has done."

New video series highlights ministry priorities of the NWC

The Northwest Conference recently released a series of video segments designed to highlight ministry priorities of the conference, including: "Congregational Vitality," "Church Planting" and "Children, Youth & Family."

The videos are designed for use throughout the year in church new member classes, services and other adult education opportunities to help congregations better understand and engage the work of the Northwest Conference.

The series is currently available on the new NWC web site's video page. The videos are also available in even higher definition on Vimeo (click here) and this would be the ideal source for streaming the series in your church or group.
