Greetings!
We are excited to announce the details for the CRVAEA Back to School event at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts! We hope that you can join us to celebrate a new school year at the fabulous, newly expanded museum.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2010 10:30 a.m. (Registration 10:00 a.m.)

This will be an informal event, with lots of time for participants to explore and chat with your fellow area art educators.
The day will officially begin at 10:30 a.m. with a brief Central Region meeting. Our president, Dawn Vass, will lead a brief meeting, highlighting upcoming CRVAEA events for the year and Twyla Kitts, VMFA, will share with you the many resources the museum has to offer. The meeting will include an amazing door prize as well as free VMFA posters and classroom resources. The morning then continues with your choice of art educator-lead tours. There is no formal end time, so you will have the opportunity to relax, enjoy and learn about the art at your pace.
Our guest docents are CRVAEA members! Your tour options are: * A Personal Journey through the Lewis Collection with Karen Siler * American Art with Michael Gettings * Impressionism and Post Impressionism with Rebecca Fields * Self Guided Tour
Of course you are welcome to view the galleries and sculpture garden on your own. All of the galleries are free of charge. The "Darkroom: Photography and New Media in South Africa since 1950" exhibit is $10 for non-members. (Teacher membership for the museum is only $40 per year.)
Please plan to check in and pay your $5.00 registration fee (cash or check only) between 10:00 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. The registration table will be located at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art's Lecture Hall. We will also be accepting on-site registration but appreciate you pre-registering so that we can plan accordingly. Tours will be limited to 20 participants each and are on a first-come first-served basis.
Please note that we will not be providing breakfast or lunch. If you wish to have lunch, the museum has the Best Café and the Amuse Restaurant (reservations recommended).
