State Conference Volunteers - Heard from us yet?

Thanks to the many of you that have already worked on projects for the upcoming state conference and to those who have volunteered to help. If you haven't heard anything by now, expect an email soon confirming how we can use your resources. There also may be more pleas for help from the eNews. Thanks in advance for all your help!

State Conference Table Decorations - Participate in this fun project!

Any Central Region teachers who are interested in helping to make sculptures for the conference table decorations, either as a class project or as an artist yourself, please contact Lise Mayer at ammayer@henrico.k12.va.us. Supplies and instructions can be picked up supplies from her at Godwin High School (Henrico County).

2009 VAEA Educator's Electronic Gallery at the State Conference - Call for Entries
|
ENTER YOUR WORK! The Electronic Gallery is our way of exhibiting VAEA educator artwork at our conferences. This is a juried competition and is displayed electronically as a slideshow at the conference. Entry form can be found at the VAEA website (home page under "Special News").

Friday Night State Conference Event at ArtWorks - Call for Entries
|
Our fantastic Friday Night Event will be held at the well-known ArtWorks Art Gallery located in the historic Manchester District from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Just minutes away from the hotel on our private Richmond trolley car (small fee), you will travel over the James River, the famous flood wall and into the Manchester warehouse district.
As Richmond area artists, you are encouraged to submit work to ArtWorks for their juried All Media Show (cash rewards!). Bring up to 3 pieces of artwork, any style, any medium to ArtWorks on the 3rd Friday and Saturday of the month (October 16-17), pay a small entry fee and fill out some paperwork. The show opens on 4th Fridays (October 23) and will be displayed until November 22, 2009. This includes our VAEA Friday Night event!

VAEA State Conference Student Art Exhibit - Call for Entries
|
The VAEA Student Art exhibition is a popular and highly visited venue to display your county's student art. Please take a few moments to review the procedures if you would like to display student art works during the 2009 VAEA Fall Professional Development Conference.
Art work is due Tuesday, November 17, 2009 to Michael Gettings. Please visit the link below for complete information.

Central Region Art Teacher of the Year - DUE October 9, 2009
|
It is time to submit your nominees for Central Region Art Teachers of the Year! School systems need to submit their Elementary, Middle and Secondary nominees to the President of the CRVAEA (Dawn Vass) by October 9, 2009. Individuals and private schools are welcome to send in nominations as well. All nominees must be active members of the NAEA/VAEA. Please allow for delivery time - we must have all the forms, letters of recommendations complete and in our hands by October 9.

VITA forms are on the VAEA website.
The CRVAEA board will score the nominees based on the rubric from VAEA. CRVAEA winners will be sent to the VAEA board as nominees for Virginia Art Teachers of the Year and will be announced at the regional meeting at the VAEA Conference on November 20, 2009. State winners are announced at the Awards Breakfast on Saturday. The State winners are sent to the NAEA for the Southeastern Regional Division Award.
