Greetings!
As we head into this Thanksgiving weekend, it would be a good time to look back at the good fortune the Foundation has enjoyed so far this year and say "Thank You" to all of our supporters.
Without the generous financial support of our donors and sponsors, along with the dedication of our volunteers, who give so freely of their time, we here at Rouge Valley Health System Foundation would be lost.
All of you together, are the reason we are able to continue in our goal to support the purchase of leading edge medical equipment for both hospital sites of the Rouge Valley Health System, as well as for major capital expansion projects. Put simply, you are helping to provide the best patient experience at RVHS.
Have a safe and happy holiday. Best regards, Chad Hanna, President & CEORouge Valley Health System Foundation

FASHIONShow had the 'wow' factor
The doctors of the Rouge Valley Health System Cardiac Care Program, along with CTV's Pauline Chan, were dressed for success at FASHIONShow 2012 Sunday, Sept. 30, as they walked the Cardiac Catwalk to support the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation and the Heart of it All campaign. The 4th Annual FASHIONShow moved to a chic new venue at Lexus on the Park, which had organizers excited for the beautiful setting and ambience it offers, overlooking a beautiful park setting. Pictured: At left, Dr. Paul Gaiwango and right, Dr. Saleem Kassam, model in the show, each accompanying one of the professional models that took part in walking the runway for FASHIONShow 2012. Golf, costumes and fun the name of the game
The Who's Your Caddy? Ladies-Only Golf Tournament was a big hit with the participants again this year. Along with wearing wacky costumes, in theme with their caddies, the golfers all raised funds to support early cancer detection. Each ladies' foursome is paired with a male caddy who provides the traditional role of advising the golfer regarding club selection and play, providing one-on-one support throughout the tournament, offering tips and advice, or even taking a few shots! Pictured: Participants stretched it out, in costume, before heading out to play golf. Read more and find a link to all the pictures at our blog, Foundation Chat. |
Loose Endz Cut-a-thon
Loose Endz The Salon hosted a Cutathon in support of the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation Sept. 30 in Ajax.
There was face-painting, a bake sale, hair cuts for a $10 donation and raffles.
Thank you to Silvana and all of the staff at Loose Endz for your wonderful support! Pictured: Julia, a stylist at Loose Endz, gives a young client a sharp-looking haircut during the event. See more pictures from the event here. |

Foundation proud of Jubilee Award recipients
A number of supporters and friends of the Foundation, along with volunteers and community partners, were among the list of Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award recipients, announced over the past few weeks. Of the recipients that we are aware of to date, were Foundation Board members, Lucy Stocco, Dr. Romas Stas and RVHS President & CEO Rik Ganderton, along with volunteer Millie Tavener and supporter Don Terry. We would like to express our congratulations to these recipients for their well-deserved recognition, along with any and all other recipients we haven't been informed of yet, among the Foundation's group of supporters. Another way to 'give thanks'
We are very fortunate here at the Foundation, to meet people who are thankful of the care they or a loved one has received at Rouge Valley Health System. With Thanksgiving here, we thought we would remind our wonderful donors of a way they can support local health care, while giving thanks during this holiday. By simply making a tribute gift, you can show your appreciation to Rouge Valley's great physicians, nurses and other allied professionals for their hard work and dedication. When you make a gift in someone's honour, the Foundation sends them a card passing along your words of thanks, as well as acknowledging your generosity to Rouge Valley. To find out more, go online to rougevalley.ca/rvhsf or call 905-683-2320, ext. 1501, 416-281-7342. |

Firefighters need a few friends
On Saturday, Oct. 13, volunteers will work alongside the Pickering Professional Firefighters at their annual boot drive at various malls throughout the City of Pickering to collect funds for the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation. Last year, the Firefighters were able to raise more than $15,000, and once again drivers who enter and exit four local malls will be asked to donate their spare change. More volunteers are needed to fill all of the time slots from 9 to 4 p.m. If you would like to help, call Heather at 905-683-2320, ext. 1501, or email hmontague@rougevalley.ca.
