Rouge Valley Centenary Buy a Bed campaign

Heart of it All
Greetings!

Although it looks like a dreary forecast for Pickering's Rotary Ribfest, which started today, we hope you are planning to drop by for the great entertainment and amazing food being offered June 1,2&3.

We truly appreciate the local Rotary clubs for their ongoing support and we are one of the fortunate groups that Rotary supports through the proceeds of Ribfest.

So I encourage you to throw a sweater on, get out your umbrella and make your way to the Pickering Civic Complex, located in the park east of City Hall, between Glenanna and Valley Farm roads.

Wishing you a great weekend,

Chad Hanna

Bed heads race Bell team
to exciting finish

The 2012 Bed Races are now in the books and thanks to the great spirit and fundraising of the participants and sponsors, the Buy a Bed Campaign and patients of Rouge Valley Centenary hospital (RVC) are the big winners.

Final numbers are still being calculated, but organizers estimate the Bed Races will exceed last year's total by a significant margin. Held Friday May 25 at host sponsor Scarborough Town Centre, all of the sponsors played a big role in making it a success. Scarboro Golf & Country Club provided BBQ food, Bell was the official starting line sponsor, Toronto Community News was the print media sponsor, and East Court Ford Lincoln was spectacular as the 'Pit Crew'.

CTV was the media sponsor and Anwar Knight, reported live from the races throughout the News at Noon, increasing the excitement for everyone.

School fundraiserSt. Malachy
equals big gift!

The students of St. Malachy recently presented a cheque to the Foundation from their successful Buy a Bed Campaign night at McDonald's.

With the support of Dale and Sandy Bartlett, owners of the McDonald's at Port Union and Kingston roads, the school was able to present a cheque for $500 to the campaign. Thank you to Dale, Sandy and the kids for their generous support!

a lot of heart

The students of Sacred Heart Catholic School returned to McDonald's in the Malvern Mall recently, the location of their great fundraising night last month, to make a cheque presentation to the Buy a Bed Campaign.

With the support of manager Steven Moran of this McDonald's location, the school was able to present a cheque for $1,000 to the campaign. Thank you to the kids, parents and school for their generous support!

Welcome to our newest Mary Slavik
staff member

It is a great pleasure to join Rouge Valley Health Systems Foundation as Planned Giving Director.

Throughout my 26 years in fundraising, all donors have the same fundamental question: how will my donation be of benefit? In Planned Giving the next question becomes: After spending a lifetime building my home and assets, how can I gain some tax relief to protect my heirs from the taxman? Over the coming months, I will help our donors understand how they can gain tax relief while also achieving their vision of improving patient care and health care at RVHS for their family, friends and our community.

If you're ready to explore the opportunities, please don't hesitate to contact me at
416-281-7462, or email mslavik@rougevalley.ca.

Yard & Bake Sale Auxiliary sale
popular for Auxiliary

On May 18, the Auxiliary to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital held a Yard & Bake Sale to help raise funds for the hospital.

Lots of different treasures could be found and the Bake table was a hit, with some of the sweet goodies not even making it to the table before they were purchased by happy staff members and visitors.

Special thanks to the organizers who volunteered their time for this event.

Pictured: Auxiliary members were especially busy at the bake table with staff snapping up the treats.
